As a seasoned gamer with years of experience navigating the dynamic world of streaming platforms, I must admit, I was taken aback by Adin Ross’s rollercoaster ride with Kick. The drama between him and CEO Ed Craven had me on the edge of my seat, thinking he was going to jump ship. But, alas, it seems that their partnership is still sailing strong, despite the stormy seas they’ve sailed together.
Adin Ross, the contentious streamer, won’t be departing from the platform anymore. In 2023, he joined the livestreaming service backed by Stake.com following a permanent ban from Twitch. He soon became a prominent figure on Kick and seemed to have a somewhat amicable bond with CEO Ed Craven, who even presented Ross with a Rolls Royce for his 23rd birthday.
During November and December, there were rumors circulating that Ross and Craven might have had a disagreement. Vague posts on social media added fuel to these whispers, leading many to think that Ross was hinting at his intention to depart from Kick. In a now-deleted tweet, he appeared to be speaking directly to Craven when he stated he would “give you one last chance to set things right.” On December 7th, Ross announced on Twitter that he would be leaving Kick and attempting to get reinstated on Twitch.
Initially, there were indications that the content creator might depart from Kick, but in a live broadcast with Ed Craven on December 21, he clarified that he will not be leaving Kick after all. Instead, Ross announced his plans for Brand Risk, an endeavor to enter the influencer boxing world, which will be carried out on Kick. During the stream, Ross expressed gratitude towards Craven for being a reliable partner, acknowledging that Craven’s earlier dismissal of rumors about Ross leaving Kick was accurate.
Why Did Ross Change His Mind About Leaving Kick?
It’s possible that the events unfolding between Ross and Craven in November and December remained private and unknown to outsiders. However, there are speculations that their disagreement revolved around whether the content creator could continue his Brand Risk projects on Kick or if he was seeking incentives to work on Twitch’s competitor platform instead. During a live broadcast, Ross appeared to be encouraging Craven about his venture into influencer boxing, stating, “I believe we can create something truly monumental with this, buddy.” He added, “Trust me, trust Todd, trust the team who will elevate this to the next level. We’re going to do Brand Risk on Kick, 100% without a doubt.
Some people believe that Ross decided not to follow through with his plans to depart from Kick because he was unable to rejoin Twitch. Interestingly, as late as April, Ross himself petitioned Twitch for a lift on his ban, despite being a key figure at Kick and seeming to be friends with Craven. Ironically, the content creator claims that he was banned from Twitch due to having a chat window for Kick open during one of his streams on the Amazon-owned platform. However, it appears that the situation was more complex than that. The CEO of Twitch, Dan Clancy, stated that unbanning Ross would necessitate “persuading me that he truly has changed,” suggesting that the streamer’s overall behavior played a significant role in the decision.
