After 15 Years, One Piece Finally Introduces A New Haki Power

Over the last ten years, Haki has become a crucial element in the story of One Piece. It was thoroughly explained around the time of the two-year timeskip and has only grown more important since then. As the story progressed after the timeskip, creator Eiichiro Oda introduced different types of Haki, including several variations. The most recent addition is advanced Conqueror’s Haki, also known as Conqueror’s Haki Infusion, which appeared during the Wano Country Arc.

I’ve been watching One Piece for a long time, and it feels like it’s been ages since we saw a completely new Haki ability. But chapter 1165 just changed that! We finally got a look at what seems to be a new level of Haki, and it’s all thanks to Rocks D. Xebec. In this latest chapter, Rocks demonstrates an incredible power – he can completely negate attacks just using his Conqueror’s Haki. It’s like he creates an impenetrable barrier, making it impossible to even harm him. I have a feeling this new ability will be hugely important as we move into the final part of the One Piece story.

One Piece chapter 1165 revealed a powerful new Haki ability used by Rocks D. Xebec. During the battle at God Valley, Rocks demonstrated the peak of his Haki, which allowed him to effortlessly deflect all attacks from both Roger and Garp.

Both fighters used extremely powerful Conqueror’s Haki, so you’d think they could at least injure Rocks D. Xebec. Surprisingly, their attacks didn’t even touch him. Rocks possesses a unique defensive ability using Haki that completely negates other Haki powers – something fans haven’t witnessed before in One Piece.

Roger and Garp needed to combine all of their Haki into one powerful attack to overcome the barrier. If they had failed, both would have been killed, which is why they risked everything. Their combined power was enough to break through Rocks’s defenses and defeat him.

Luffy Is Still Far From Rocks’s Level

The powerful Haki barrier, first demonstrated by Rocks D. Xebec, isn’t a unique ability – characters like Imu and Shanks are also likely capable of using it. This opens up new potential for Luffy, the series’ main character, who needs to significantly strengthen his Conqueror’s Haki to keep pace. As Luffy grows more powerful, his Haki will naturally evolve. Currently, he needs to master two key Haki techniques. First, he needs to learn how to overcome immortality using advanced Haki, and replicate the powerful Haki-infused attacks seen from Rocks and Roger. Second, he needs to develop the Haki barrier to greatly enhance his defense.

One Piece Chapter 1165 is scheduled for release this week, as usual on Sundays. While it becomes available in Japan at midnight on Monday (JST), most international fans will be able to read it on November 9, 2025. The chapter will be available for free on Manga Plus.
