This article contains spoilers from Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo has been incredibly successful. Author Gege Akutami has skillfully expanded the world of Jujutsu Kaisen, making it even more engaging. This sequel manga excels in its detailed world-building and strong character development. Akutami has a distinctive style when it comes to characters, and is known for unexpectedly killing off important ones – a trend that continues in this series.
The story strongly suggests that Gege Akutami has planned for Yuka Okkotsu to die. Recent chapters revealed she has an incurable brain tumor and only a short time left to live. The latest chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo further hinted at this tragic outcome.
Yuka Okkotsu Is Going To Die In JJK Modulo
Yuka Okkotsu is a key character in the continuation of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga. As the granddaughter of Yuta Okkotsu and Maki Zenin, she’s destined to inherit the power of Rika. Many fans love her, which makes it particularly upsetting that the author, Gege, has indicated she will die. She has an incurable brain tumor, and even techniques like Reversed Cursed Technique might not be able to save her. The reason for this remains a mystery.
I have a brain tumor and my time is limited, but I don’t want anyone to feel sorry for me. — Yuka Okkotsu
Currently, it seems likely she will die, though no one else in the story knows this – not even her brother. Despite being a central character, her death is a real possibility because the author, Gege Akutami, isn’t afraid to kill off important characters. He’s done it before, and as the story progresses, it could happen again.
Gege Has Already Revealed The Reason For Her Death
Yuka’s death serves two purposes. Within the story, she dies from a brain tumor. But more broadly, the author used her death to heighten the tension and make the plot more exciting, similar to how the deaths of characters like Nanami, or the perceived death of Nobara, created some of the most impactful moments in the series.
I want to be just like Grandpa Yuta. — Yuka Okkotsu
Gojo’s death powerfully set up the final conflict in Jujutsu Kaisen. The author, Gege Akutami, might be planning something similar with Yuka Okkotsu, potentially using her death to unite the Simurians and humans.
Yuka, Maru, And Tsurugi Could Be On Opposing Ends
In Jujutsu Kaisen’s latest chapter, 12, Gege Akutami depicted Maru, Yuka, and Tsurugi each heading in separate directions. Yuka traveling west suggests she’s moving into another world, while Maru goes east and Tsurugi heads north, hinting at significant changes to come for him. All three are unknowingly about to be impacted by the growing conflict between humans and Simurians.
Honestly, finding out his brother was shot – right through the heart, by humans no less – is going to completely change Maru. It’s devastating. And Tsurugi? He’s going to be forced to fight the aliens, even if it means turning against his own family. It’s a terrible situation, but he doesn’t really have a choice.
The sequel to Jujutsu Kaisen, titled Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, is currently being published in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. Chapter 13 is scheduled to come out on November 30, 2025, at midnight Japan Standard Time, which is 11:00 AM Eastern Time and 8:00 AM Pacific Time. Readers can access the chapter for free on Manga Plus and the Shonen Jump app.
