As a dedicated fan with years of sleepless nights spent within the haunting world of Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, I wholeheartedly agree that “Five Nights at Freddy’s: Out of Stock” deserves a game adaptation. The chilling tale of Plushtrap Chaser and its dark, stormy night-long chase resonates deeply with the horror-loving part of me that’s still recovering from my own encounter with Spring Bonnie.
“Five Nights at Freddy’s: Into the Pit” is a fresh 2D survival horror game developed by Mega Cat Studios. This production adapts the initial narrative from the FNAF: Fazbear Frights novels, making it the first time a story from one of the FNAF books has been brought to life on screen. The game offers an exhilarating 2D horror experience that stands among the finest in the FNAF series. Stories within Fazbear Frights are some of the darkest tales in the FNAF Universe, and a few are particularly fitting for screen adaptation. With the success of “FNAF Into the Pit“, another story from Fazbear Frights could benefit greatly from a spin-off treatment.

FNAF’s Out of Stock Story Deserves a Game Adaptation
In the second volume of “Five Nights at Freddy’s: Fazbear Frights,” titled “Fetch, ” there are three new tales set within the universe of “FNAF“. The story that bears the same name as the collection is said to be adapted into a game soon, but the third tale, “Out of Stock“, has the potential to become an excellent survival horror game. This chilling story revolves around a small animatronic named Plushtrap Chaser, which is reminiscent of the titular animatronic from “FNAF 4‘s Fun with Plushtrap minigame”. Similar to its video game counterpart, the Plushtrap Chaser can only move in complete darkness and freezes when it encounters a light source. While the original mini-game requires players to try and stop the animatronic at a specific location, “Out of Stock” takes this concept and turns it into a terrifying ordeal for three young friends who endure a nightmarish experience.
The story centers around a boy named Oscar who yearns for his very own Plushtrap Chaser. Accompanied by his friends Raj and Isaac, they eagerly wait in line at the Emporium where the toy is being sold. Unfortunately, when it’s their turn to buy, they discover that all units are out of stock. Listening in on nearby conversations, Oscar learns about a peculiar defect affecting some Plushtrap models. Inquiring about purchasing this defective one, he is denied. Frustrated, Oscar decides to steal the odd-looking animatronic with humanoid eyes and real teeth instead.
A few days pass, and the boys are at Oscar’s place when a sudden storm hits the neighborhood. As Oscar plugs in the Plushtrap Chaser to recharge, a bolt of lightning hits the house, causing a power outage and casting everything into darkness. With only a handful of flashlights that barely work, the boys are forced to contend with Plushtrap, a creature that swiftly navigates the house, chews through doors, and imitates their voices. To make it through the night, the boys need to cooperate, find their way out of the darkness, and eliminate the Chaser before it’s too late – or the darkness could become permanent.
FNAF: Out of Stock Could Be Adapted to a Variety of Gaming Subgenres
As a die-hard gamer diving into the captivating world of Five Nights at Freddy’s: Out of Stock, I can’t help but feel the tension in the air, whether it’s the 2D or 3D version. The spine-chilling narrative alone would make for an unforgettable single-player journey. But when we hit the third act, where it’s 1 versus 3, the game takes a thrilling turn towards multiplayer territory.
As a passionate fan of the Five Nights at Freddy’s series, I can imagine how exciting it would be if the game adaptation of ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s: Out of Stock’ included an asymmetrical multiplayer mode, where I could play as Plushtrap against 3 survivors. Yet, I believe this concept might not work well on its own, given the rich tapestry of stories that Five Nights at Freddy’s has to offer.
