After The End Of One Piece, Eiichiro Oda Has Already Confirmed His Next Story

This article contains spoilers for the Final Saga of One Piece.

As a huge manga fan, I honestly believe Eiichiro Oda is the absolute best mangaka ever, and the most successful too! What’s truly amazing is how he’s kept the quality of One Piece unbelievably high for almost thirty years! If anything, it feels like the series is improving with each year, which is just incredible. While One Piece is already a massive phenomenon and will definitely become even more famous during its final arc, it’s also a little bittersweet knowing that this amazing story is eventually coming to a close.

The final arc of One Piece is now in progress, and Eiichiro Oda has suggested that 2026 could be a key year for the story’s conclusion. This means the series will likely end within the next few years, leading fans to wonder what Oda will do next. Fortunately, Oda has already addressed this, and it seems fans will continue to receive new content from him even after One Piece finishes.

Eiichiro Oda Has Already Started The Final Phase Of One Piece

  • The Final Island Could Be Focused On After Elbaf

Fans of One Piece generally avoid talking about the series ending, which is understandable considering it’s been running for around 28 years. The story is so detailed and expansive, with a huge amount of backstory and complex characters, that it feels like 28 years isn’t nearly enough time to tell it all. Because of this rich world and ongoing mysteries, fans find it hard to imagine how the story can conclude satisfyingly when creator Eiichiro Oda eventually decides to bring it to a close.

Get ready, because One Piece is about to reveal all its secrets! I’m finally going to share the answers to the mysteries I’ve been building up. It’s going to be an exciting ride, so hold on tight. Thank you for reading, and I hope you’ll stick with the story for a little longer! — Eiichiro Oda, One Piece

Even so, fans shouldn’t rely too much on Oda’s predictions about when One Piece will end, as he hasn’t always been accurate. He once said he aimed to finish the series by 2025, but it’s now 2026 and the story is still going strong, even though we’re in the final arc. It’s obvious to fans that the final saga will likely continue for several more years.

Currently, One Piece is focusing on the Elbaf Arc, which is expected to continue throughout the year. The series will likely begin a brand new arc by the end of 2026 or in 2027. Considering the scope of the story, it’s estimated that One Piece will conclude in about five to six years. However, the Final Saga has begun, meaning Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates are getting closer to achieving their dreams and bringing the story to a close.

When One Piece concludes, fans will naturally wonder what happens next. While many fear losing this beloved series, it’s likely that won’t be the end of the story. Eiichiro Oda, the creator, doesn’t want to completely leave the world he’s built either.

After One Piece, Oda Would Like To Draw One Piece Spin-off Stories

Although many believe One Piece will conclude completely when Luffy’s adventure finishes, that might not be the end. Eiichiro Oda has mentioned wanting to create additional stories focusing on other characters within the One Piece universe. This is logical, considering how detailed and expansive the world is, and how many characters have compelling backstories. One Piece primarily follows Luffy’s journey, so it’s natural for Oda to concentrate most of the story on him.

I’m totally invested in the Straw Hat crew, and they definitely take center stage, but honestly, there are so many other amazing characters in this story who really deserve some spotlight too! It’s great to see them get their moments.

The story features compelling characters with unique perspectives, whether they’re Marines, members of the Revolutionary Army, or even those who aren’t particularly powerful. Fans are eager to learn more about these viewpoints, and that’s why the author, Eiichiro Oda, plans to create spin-off stories after the main One Piece story concludes.

Oda Plans A Story On The Revolutionary Army

  • An Early Look At The Revolutionary Army

Oda has said he’d like to write a side story focusing on Monkey D. Dragon and the Revolutionary Army once One Piece is finished. This is great news for fans, as the Revolutionary Army hasn’t been explored much despite its growing power – it’s often been relegated to the background. It’s understandable, though, considering how massive the overall One Piece story is.

Once One Piece concludes, Eiichiro Oda plans to revisit certain story elements and develop them further, with Monkey D. Dragon and the Revolutionary Army being a primary focus. He wants to explore Dragon’s backstory, motivations, and the origins of his army, offering fans a deeper understanding of the character. This expanded story would also reveal the numerous conflicts Dragon and his forces faced against the World Government and its allied kingdoms, providing a fresh and exciting perspective on Dragon and his revolution.

Oda Would Also Love To Draw A Story On Garp

Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece, has plans to tell the story of Monkey D. Garp, alongside the narratives of Dragon and the Revolutionary Army. He’s particularly interested in showing Garp’s connections with various members of the Navy, including the admirals Kuzan, Borsalino, and Sakazuki. While Garp’s past with Kuzan was recently revealed during the Egghead Arc, his relationships with the other two admirals remain a mystery. It’s possible Oda included some of Garp’s story in the recent flashback, but fans believe there’s much more to explore about his history.

I have a great idea for a spin-off story focusing on Garp. I envision exploring his connections with characters like Akainu, Aokiji, Smoker, Hina, Coby, the Cipher Pol agents, and even Roger. — Eiichiro Oda

I’ve noticed a lot of fans are really curious about Garp and his choices. It’s interesting because he was aware of the corruption within the Marines, yet he still dedicated his life to them. While Oda is revealing more about Garp through the flashbacks we’ve been seeing, I think a dedicated story focusing solely on him would be incredible. It would give us a whole new perspective on a character that many already consider one of the most compelling in One Piece, and honestly, a lot of us are eagerly anticipating that story once the main One Piece narrative concludes.

Eiichiro Oda’s popular manga, One Piece, follows Monkey D. Luffy and his crew, the Straw Hat Pirates, on their adventure to find the legendary treasure, the One Piece. The story is currently in its final arc. The newest chapter, 1171, will be released in this week’s Weekly Shonen Jump on January 18, 2026. In Japan, it will be available at midnight on Monday, which is 11:00 AM Eastern Time and 8:00 AM Pacific Time. Fans can read the chapter for free on Manga Plus and the Shonen Jump app, directly supporting the author with their readership.
