As a seasoned Age of Mythology veteran with countless hours under my belt, I can confidently say that the Atlantean civilization’s Oracles are a game-changer in Age of Mythology: Retold. Interestingly, if you choose the Atlanteans, your explorers will be replaced by Oracle units, which boast an exceptional range of vision that lets them scout much further than their counterparts from other civilizations.

In the context of this game, Oracles are specialized units unique to the Atlantean civilization. At the beginning of a new game as an Atlantean player, you will be given three of these units. Their special ability allows them to see further and beyond, making them exceptional for scouting purposes. It’s important to focus on exploring the map early in the game, as this will help you understand the locations of your opponents’ settlements and the resources nearby that can aid you in your strategy.

In Age of Mythology: Retold, you can generate additional Oracle units whenever you wish, provided that you have enough resources on hand, which are 40 Food and 60 Gold. It’s also essential to ensure you have an open space in your population for this unit. To build the Oracle, simply visit the Temple and choose the Oracle option.

As an ardent fan, I find that when my Oracle remains stationary, their field of view expands gradually, granting them exceptional scouting capabilities over the immediate surroundings. Unfortunately, this talent is deactivated once they start to move. It’s worth noting that despite their impressive sight range, they’re sluggish movers and not particularly formidable in battle. Fortunately, the game allows us to upgrade our Oracle unit into a Hero Oracle, enhancing their overall performance.

In the game Age of Mythology: Retold, players transforming villagers or Oracle figures into Heroes is done by selecting them and opting for the ‘Hero’ selection. Once transformed into Heroes, Oracles become slow-moving units with less combat power, but their vision range doubles and expands quicker. Like other Hero units, Hero Oracles inflict more damage on Mythical creatures and can gather Relics from the surroundings.

In the heat of a fight, having a Hero Seer could prove beneficial since they can quickly identify the composition of troops that lie ahead.

In the game ‘Age of Mythology: Retold’, even though there are stronger Hero characters, Hero Oracles come with unique benefits. If you find yourself with extra resources, transforming Oracles into Hero Oracles is definitely recommended. To do this, players will require the specified resources.
