Alan Ritchson Wasn’t Thrilled With The Action Sequences In Reacher Season 2 And This Is Surprising
As the countdown to the launch of the third season of “Reacher” neared its end, actor Alan Ritchson sat down for an interview with The Movie Podcast. During their conversation, Ritchson made some intriguing remarks about the second season of the popular Amazon action show, causing a bit of a stir among fans.
As a viewer, I enjoy the show just like anyone else, but it’s important to remember that there are aspects beyond my control. I’m not in the post-production phase; instead, I’m busy working on other projects. Though I know what we filmed during the day, the execution in post-production is something I can only influence to a certain extent. Sometimes I appreciate what I see, and at other times, I feel audiences might agree that improvements could be made.
In season two, for instance, I wasn’t particularly satisfied with many of the action sequences. I was quite disappointed by how some fights were portrayed. We didn’t perform well on set that day. We lacked the appropriate tools, and the editing wasn’t as effective. Consequently, I gathered the creative team and emphasized our need to improve, saying, “We must do better.
The combined global subscriber revenue for both seasons of Reacher on Prime Video totaled $279 million, demonstrating the show’s popularity among fans. While Reacher Season 2 showed improvement over the first season, Alan Ritchson admitted that he wasn’t entirely content with it. Since Ritchson plays an active role in the creative process, his perspective may differ from that of the viewers. However, some might find his comments a bit harsh towards the hardworking team behind the project.

Being the lead actor in one of Amazon Prime Video’s most prominent series carries significant weight, and Alan Ritchson isn’t content to rest on his success. His comments about Reacher season 2 may have appeared as a slight towards the show’s creative team, but more likely served as a drive to excel even further for Reacher season 3. In an interview with The Movie Podcast, Ritchson further stated:
My primary focus is always on surpassing the audience’s expectations for our show. I invest a tremendous amount of effort, passion, and dedication into every aspect of its creation, and can only cross my fingers for the outcome. I aim to provide an unforgettable experience that resonates with people. For Season 3, we’ve given it our all; we left nothing behind. It was the most challenging project I’ve ever undertaken physically, and I believe it will be the hardest one I’ll face in my career.
In the upcoming task, I’ll be ensuring that Reacher season 4 delivers on the high expectations established by the current season. So far, Ritchson and the team have demonstrated exceptional skill in crafting captivating storylines once again. The remaining episodes hold much anticipation, especially with the looming epic confrontation against season 3’s villain, Paulie, and the intriguing possibility of a romantic subplot featuring DEA Agent Susan Duffy. Additionally, we can look forward to the setup for Neagley’s spin-off, as our protagonists work tirelessly to dismantle drug trafficker, Zachary Beck.
