According to Remedy’s investor report, they noted that the launch of the second expansion for the game, titled “The Lake House”, as well as the release of the physical retail Deluxe Edition, the Collector’s Edition, which was distributed in December by Limited Run Games, and the PS5 upgrade patch, all played a significant role in boosting the game’s long-term sales.
In the last quarter of 2024, Royalties for the game began accumulating for Remedy, but the specific amount was not disclosed.
According to the same report, Remedy has confirmed that the remastered versions of Max Payne 1 & 2, as well as the multiplayer game, FBC: Firebreak, are currently under active development. It’s also stated that Control 2 will begin full production this month.
Alan Wake 2 is likely a game that should generate income for its creators, given its positive reception. The game received a “Strong” rating on Open Critic with an impressive 93% of reviewers recommending it, indicating favorable reviews. Moreover, Remedy Entertainment has consistently provided updates to the game, enhancing features, fixing bugs, and more, further supporting its commercial success.
In our assessment, we found Alan Wake 2 to be a testament to Remedy’s years of dedication to crafting unique narratives. The dialogue is sharp, the characters are captivating, and the puzzles had me second-guessing myself till the final moments.
It appears highly likely that Alan Wake 3 will be released, considering the success of Alan Wake 2, which has been certified as a multi-platinum seller and is generating income for the developer. If it’s officially announced, we might see fewer jump scares in the third installment, as Remedy admitted they may have overused them in the second game.
