The highly praised survival horror game, Alan Wake 2, has rolled out its inaugural PC upgrade in the year 2025. In a joint effort between developer Remedy Entertainment and Nvidia, the most recent Alan Wake 2 PC update incorporates significant enhancements and features to optimize performance on the newly released RTX 50 Series graphics cards.
In October 2023, Alan Wake 2 was introduced as one of the most technologically advanced games of its era. The lifelike textures and fluid animations, skillfully combined with realistic lighting and shadows, create a visually captivating adventure for players of Alan Wake 2. For PC gamers using Nvidia GPUs, Alan Wake 2 provides additional features such as ray reconstruction, DLSS upscaling, frame generation, ray tracing, and path tracing. The arrival of Nvidia’s new RTX 50 Series graphics cards has only expanded this list of enhancements.
On January 30, a fresh update for Alan Wake 2’s PC version was released by Remedy Entertainment. This update primarily introduces DLSS 4 with Multi-Frame Generation into Alan Wake 2, which was confirmed earlier in January 2025 to be one of the 75 games adopting the latest Nvidia technology. As per Remedy, activating DLSS 4 and Multi-Frame Generation will empower PC gamers to push Alan Wake 2’s graphics and ray tracing settings to their utmost levels, enabling play at more than 230 frames per second in 4K resolution on the new RTX 50 Series graphics cards.
Not just RTX 50 Series owners can enjoy the benefits of Alan Wake 2. Users of previous Nvidia RTX cards will also experience an upgrade to its DLSS 4, offering enhanced DLSS Super Resolution, DLSS Ray Reconstruction, and DLAA technology. Alan Wake 2 is pioneering the inclusion of Nvidia’s RTX Mega Geometry tech for all RTX GPU users, boosting BVH construction to accommodate up to 100 times more ray-traced triangles and enhancing performance in heavily ray-traced scenes. Lastly, Remedy has expanded Alan Wake 2‘s advanced ray tracing capabilities with a new Ultra Ray Tracing preset, featuring fully ray-traced reflections, fully ray-traced transparent reflections, and higher-quality fully ray-traced indirect lighting.
Players of “Alan Wake 2” can get the latest PC version of the game by downloading it from the Epic Games Store. Unfortunately, those anticipating a Steam release may find themselves waiting for quite some time as it has been confirmed that “Alan Wake 2” will continue to be an exclusive title on the Epic Games Store.
