The Tomb Raider series first launched in 1996 and quickly became a hugely popular video game franchise, leading to numerous sequels and a complete reimagining. It’s also been adapted into three movies with Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander playing Lara Croft. Although a follow-up to the 2018 film was scrapped, a new TV series is in development with Prime Video. Created by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, known for ‘Fleabag,’ the show aims to finally deliver a successful Tomb Raider adaptation for Hollywood, and early casting choices suggest it has a good chance of doing just that.

Sigourney Weaver, the actress famous for roles in movies like Alien and Avatar, is reportedly considering a part in the upcoming Tomb Raider series on Prime Video, according to Deadline. While it’s not confirmed yet, she may be joining the cast alongside Sophie Turner and Martin Bobb-Semple. So, this news should be treated as unconfirmed for now.
Securing Sigourney Weaver for the series would be a huge win. She’s a well-known actress with a history of starring in popular films like Aliens, Ghostbusters, Galaxy Quest, and Avatar. She’s also received three Academy Award nominations, including nods for her leading roles in Aliens and Gorillas in the Mist, and a supporting role in Working Girl.
