As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that Dragon Age: The Veilguard has piqued my interest more than any RPG in recent memory. The character creation system they’ve put together is nothing short of impressive, allowing us to craft our protagonist from the ground up, customizing everything from their skin tone and scars to their hairstyles and beards.
Whenever a new RPG is about to be released, there’s often a common curiosity. Does it provide character customization? Many players prefer creating their own characters instead of playing a pre-set protagonist that might not resonate with them. Here’s a look at the character creation in Dragon Age: The Veilguard!
Character Creator in Dragon Age: The Veilguard
To kick off your adventure in Dragon Age: Veilguard, the initial phase involves crafting your character. This allows you to customize your protagonist extensively, choosing aspects like their skin tone, scars, tattoos, hairstyles, beards, eye color, and numerous other features. However, these choices are purely aesthetic and won’t affect gameplay mechanics. The significant decisions you’ll make during character creation revolve around selecting your character’s race, faction, and class.
Race
Similar to Dragon Age: Inquisition, Dragon Age: The Veilguard offers a choice of four unique races. These include:
- Human
- Elf
- Dwarf
- Qunari
1. Humans are the fundamental race in all fantasy stories, often serving as a standard character choice for those not seeking great adventure. Elves in Thedas are oppressed and thus may encounter distinct dialogues from those who view them with disdain. Dwarves, known in fantasy, are short and stout artisans and merchants, yet they lack any connection to the Fade and therefore cannot become mages. Lastly, the Qunari of Thedas are distinctive; they are towering giants with horns who strictly adhere to their faith, many of them serving as mercenaries across the land.
Faction
In the game Dragon Age: The Veilguard, there are six distinctive factions that play a significant role in shaping both the protagonist and the game’s narrative and setting. Each of these six groups serves as a starting point for our main character, and they each have an impact on the world and story within the game. These six factions are:
- Antivan Crows
- Grey Wardens
- Lords of Fortune
- Mourn Watch
- Shadow Dragons
- Veil Jumpers
Class
In the end, you’ll pick a class that significantly influences how you engage in battle situations, with three options available for selection.
- Warrior
- Mage
- Rogue

Is The Main Character in Dragon Age: The Veilguard Voiced?
After announcing the cast for Dragon Age: The Veilguard, it’s clear that the main character in the game will have full voice acting. When creating your character, you get to choose from four different voices – two male and two female.
Since the character is given a voice, it’s clear that this voice will significantly contribute to the game’s cinematic scenes and narratives. Regrettably, for those anticipating a silent protagonist, that option seems unavailable in this particular instance.
