12. Battlefield Hardline

All Battlefield Games, Ranked From Worst to Best

The “Hardline” concept represented a significant change from what Battlefield fans were accustomed to, and this shift didn’t resonate strongly within the community. It was like the traditional Battlefield, but with a ‘Police vs. Criminals’ theme that never quite meshed with the classic Battlefield playstyle. While it had an engaging campaign and boasted impressive visuals, gamers rarely felt they were playing a true Battlefield title.

11. Battlefield Vietnam

2004 marked the release of Battlefield Vietnam, available only on PC platforms. As the second installment in the Battlefield series, it took players from World War II battlefields to the dense jungles of Vietnam, which felt unusual but was their creative choice. The game had a more intense feel compared to its predecessor, although it didn’t revolutionize gaming. Following a brief Bad Company expansion, this war setting has not been revisited again.

10. Battlefield 1942

All Battlefield Games, Ranked From Worst to Best

2002 marked the beginning of an epic journey with Battlefield 1942. This game stood out for its time due to almost unmatched realism and quickly became one of the most popular games on the market. Although it started the entire franchise, it may not rank number one among all Battlefield games.

9. Battlefield 2042

All Battlefield Games, Ranked From Worst to Best

Battlefield 2042 initially faced a rocky start with many players finding it disappointing upon release. However, since then, the game has undergone numerous improvements, making it a decent addition to the Battlefield series, even if it’s not considered a classic yet. Those who stopped playing after its initial launch may not hold it in high regard due to their experiences at that time.

8. Battlefield V

All Battlefield Games, Ranked From Worst to Best

Despite receiving some negative feedback, Battlefield V is not considered a poor game overall. On the contrary, it showcased several outstanding features that are among the best in all Battlefield series. One such feature was the construction option, which I found particularly enjoyable. The game offered stunning map designs, thrilling battle mechanics, extensive customization options, a compelling single-player campaign, and an abundance of post-release content – including a battle royale mode!

Regrettably, it didn’t manage to match the excellence of Battlefield 1, its precursor, nor did it prevent the decline that some considered the start of the Battlefield series’ descent.

7. Battlefield 2142

All Battlefield Games, Ranked From Worst to Best

2142: Battlefield was an anomaly, a future-themed game that was two centuries ahead of the oldest Battlefield title. It wasn’t a bad game by any stretch, offering some thrilling combat scenes and robust multiplayer, but it was a nearly unanticipated burst of innovation in a series that had primarily focused on real-world battles up until then. As for mechs in Battlefield, perhaps not – but they worked well in 2142.

6. Battlefield: Bad Company

All Battlefield Games, Ranked From Worst to Best

2008 saw the debut of Bad Company, a game series that introduced us to its quartet of characters, who would go on to star in two subsequent releases. Known for its mix of humor, catchy one-liners, and engaging action scenes, this title offered an entertaining experience across semi-linear maps. To this day, fans still miss Bad Company, as the servers were recently shut down as well.

5. Battlefield 2

All Battlefield Games, Ranked From Worst to Best

According to Metacritic, Battlefield 2 is considered the highest-rated game among all Battlefield series titles. This game, though technically the third installment, represented a significant improvement over its predecessor, which had been released three years earlier. Notably, it was one of the most collaborative shooter games during its era, making it an excellent choice for multiplayer and one of the best team-oriented first-person shooters.

4. Battlefield 4

All Battlefield Games, Ranked From Worst to Best

In Battlefield 4, the campaign was exceptionally impressive within the series, with certain characters reappearing in 2042 more than a decade later as a testament to its quality. Additionally, it showcased one of the most well-balanced and memorable multiplayer modes for the franchise, complemented by superb destruction effects, diverse combat roles, and some of our favorite battlefield maps.

3. Battlefield Bad Company 2

All Battlefield Games, Ranked From Worst to Best

Bad Company 2 served as something of a farewell for the sub-series, yet fans continue to anticipate its revival. It built upon the foundation laid by the original game, enhancing elements like storyline, witty dialogue, expansive maps, and a more captivating multiplayer mode. Released in 2010, the next installment in the series was expected to be so impressive that it would eclipse Bad Company 2 completely.

2. Battlefield 1

All Battlefield Games, Ranked From Worst to Best

Among all Battlefield series games, Battlefield 1 stood out as the most moving and harrowing title. Offering an advanced and unforgettable experience, it remains the best-selling Battlefield game to date, primarily due to its compelling storyline. In the multiplayer aspect, players were drawn into a painfully realistic, engrossing environment that was exhilarating to play each time. It felt genuine, looked stunning, and presented an unflinching depiction of one of human history’s most destructive wars.

1. Battlefield 3

All Battlefield Games, Ranked From Worst to Best

Among all Battlefield games produced so far, Battlefield 3 stands out as the undisputed champion. This first-person shooter is a true work of art, and despite being released as early as 2011, it continues to impress critics today. It skillfully matched up against heavyweights like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Killzone 3, and Crysis 2 in its day, even if it didn’t always take the top spot. But Battlefield 3 was a game that never backed down from a challenge.

Featuring an abundance of post-release content, iconic maps from the series’ past, visually stunning landscapes that left spectators in awe, and colossal levels of destruction, this Battlefield title stood out as the ultimate Battlefield experience. Its compelling narrative and cooperative missions were captivating, while the multiplayer mode was delightful to engage with repeatedly due to its high-quality gameplay.
