As a seasoned Call of Duty player with over a decade of gaming under my belt, I must say that the maps in Black Ops 6 are nothing short of spectacular! Among them all, Stakeout, Pit, Scud, and Skyline have truly stolen the show.
During the beta, players of Black Ops 6 had their inaugural experience with several fresh maps, yet it’s evident that not all of them are created equal.
During the initial playtests of Treyarch’s latest title, there’s been a lot of chatter among players regarding the game’s meta weapons, the innovative Omnimovement system, and even the choice of maps, with some expressing early concerns about them.
So, we’ve ranked every BO6 we’ve played so far from best to worst.

During the Black Ops 6 beta testing phase, we were able to try out five core maps and three Strike maps. After its official launch on October 25th, the number of maps will expand to a total of 16. However, some of these initial maps have already left a significant impression on players – be it positive or negative.

8. Babylon
In Black Ops 6’s beta, I find myself lamenting over Babylon as the least enjoyable map thus far. Despite being designed to rekindle the swift-moving action reminiscent of iconic maps like Shipment, this compact layout falls short in capturing the allure that once made it a cherished choice among fans.
In the periphery, expansive views can be harsh towards players who opt for aggressive strategies, as they expose you to danger from multiple directions. On the flip side, navigating through the center puts you at risk of encountering more opponents hiding in various spots, contrasting other arenas on this list.
In the beta phase as well, Black Ops 6 encountered some widely reported spawn problems, and the compact layout of Babylon significantly intensifies these difficulties, often resulting in a frustrating gameplay experience.
7. Derelict
The map “Derelict” seems quite conventional in the style of Call of Duty, employing the classic three-lane structure and featuring a large building for snipers on one side. Yet, its main flaw lies in its openness while moving from one end to another, making it vulnerable to enemy fire.
Despite numerous hiding spots like train cars available, the design of the map seems to offer the impression that adversaries could potentially spot you from any location.
If you start at the same location as the C-flag, it’s often difficult because the other team has a strategic advantage with the high ground and can easily eliminate you. This situation can lead to exciting confrontations if your team is holding down the fort, but it can also result in an unfair fight that’s heavily biased towards the other side.
6. Gala
As a gamer, I’ve got to say that Gala isn’t a terrible map, but compared to the other three Strike maps from the beta, it’s definitely the least impressive. It’s visually stunning, set in a grand hallway after a fancy fundraising event, but when it comes to gameplay, it feels inconsistent and lacks the action I’d expect.
The map forces teams to fight over the raised stage area in the middle, but once you’re up there you can be picked off pretty easily from nearly anywhere else. So, it often pays to just sit back rather than take the fight to your opponents.
Considering the situation, it’s surprising how spacious and unhurried the atmosphere in such a large arena can feel at times.
5. Rewind
Over the weekend, I might’ve said that Rewind was one of the less impressive maps in Black Ops 6. But the more I played it, the more I realized this map isn’t just another run-of-the-mill level. It requires a different strategy and understanding its unique rhythm to master.
On Team Deathmatch, it remains challenging to grow fond of the map due to frequent skirmishes primarily in the video store. However, when it comes to modes like Hardpoint that compel you to traverse all corners, it truly shines.
The main drawback is the wide-open street that runs through the center, which can easily lead to you being gunned down while trying to scramble across. But all that being said, while it’s not an option I always hope to see pop up, I know I’m in for a reliably good time whenever it does.
4. Stakeout
The miniature map known as “Stakeout” is packed with all necessary elements. Its level of disorder makes it approachable for all players, yet it offers ample opportunities for strategic moves if one chooses to think creatively and collaborate with their teammates.
The majority of the action unfolds within, yet the excitement never fades as you leap from balcony to balcony on the periphery, outmaneuvering adversaries. Dashing across the rooftops in the heart is a daring move, but the rush it provides when successful is unparalleled.
3. Pit
Regardless of formidable rivalry from Stakeout, Pit emerges victorious with a narrow margin as the top Strike map to date. In the brief period I’ve played it during beta testing, it seems poised to resemble Black Ops 6’s Shipment for players aiming to achieve Mastery camos or upgrade their weapons rapidly.
On this map, matches become exhilaratingly chaotic, as you engage in intense combat within a skillfully crafted mine filled with intricate tunnels and expansive chambers. An additional upper level introduces an element of height, compelling you to stay alert and adapt quickly.
Just as a small map can sometimes resemble a blender when enemies are swarming around you, Pit is no exception. However, once you’ve honed your Omnimovement abilities, it becomes an ideal place to display your talents and leave opponents struggling for traction.
2. Scud
Among the Black Ops 6 maps we’ve tested so far, Scud stands out as the most evenly-balanced one during the beta, catering to a wide range of players.
If you enjoy taking down foes from a distance using a Sniper Rifle, the region behind the damaged equipment offers an excellent vantage point. On the other hand, if close combat with an SMG is more your style, the intricate trench system and abandoned structures are designed just for you.
Similar to several others on the roster, Scud has sometimes been disappointed by the spawns, particularly in Team Deathmatch. However, for objective-focused game types such as Hardpoint, this layout is a design blueprint that Treyarch should consistently employ when designing medium-sized maps.
1. Skyline
Despite various viewpoints circulating online, there’s generally consensus that Skyline is unquestionably the top map in Black Ops 6. This stunning, vibrant battleground has swiftly earned a spot among fans and shows strong potential to be a classic in the Call of Duty franchise.
Instead of merely being visually appealing, the lavish mansion and pool draw a crowd primarily because they serve as an exceptional demonstration of Omnimovement’s capabilities and Treyarch’s objectives for Black Ops 6. The space seems expansive and inviting, encouraging you to swim or glide strategically against opponents, while all three paths seamlessly blend, fostering a competitive playstyle.
However, if you prefer a different approach, you’ll find extensive views from both sides and strategic locations at the center, allowing you to control Skyline effectively using an SMG, Assault Rifle, or even a sniper rifle.
