As a long-time resident of Miraland, I must say that the sheer variety and unique qualities of the insects found here never cease to amaze me. From the delicate Balletfly fluttering by the water’s edge to the elusive Gogglebug lurking near its surface, these creatures are not just inhabitants but rather, tiny fashion designers in their own right.
Exploring the lively, expansive universe of Infinity Nikki offers players countless treasures to uncover and employ. Traversing Miraland from top to bottom is essential for revealing all its secrets, currencies, creatures, and more, some of which might be hidden in plain sight. To fully appreciate Nikki’s stunning wardrobe, complete every mission in Infinity Nikki, and amass as many collectible materials as possible is just as important as any other goal within the game.
One such collectible that you definitely want to focus on is Bugs, and there are many to catch in the various regions of Miraland. To obtain them, you’ll need to know how to get Nikki’s bug-catching ability and of course exactly where to find each of them.
How to Catch Bugs in Infinity Nikki
In the captivating world of Infinity Nikki, one of the many talents you can acquire is transforming into a top-notch bug collector, complete with an irresistibly cute attire! Fear not about missing out on this unique outfit, as it becomes available during Chapter One of the main storyline. More specifically, it’s part of a quest titled ‘Accident at the Clothing Shop,’ where you’ll meet Nonoy and be tasked with catching a Foodie Bee to repair the shop.
After taking on the mentioned quest, you’ll next have to activate it on your Infinity Heart grid using at least 2 Whimstars and 1000 Bling from your inventory. This action will provide you with a design for the outfit, which you can subsequently find in your Sketches section. To create the Afternoon Shine attire, here are the necessary items:
- Starlit Plum (gathered in the grasslands around Florawish)
- Floof Yarn (gathered from Floof animals using the Animal Grooming ability)
- Daisy (gathered in the grasslands around Florawish)
- Thread of Purity (obtained by completing quests, completing daily wishes, realm challenges, etc)
After gathering all necessary items, select the ‘Afternoon Shine’ outfit in your Sketches menu by clicking on ‘Select All’, followed by the ‘Craft’ button to create the outfit and activate the bug-catching skill. This new ability will appear on your Ability Wheel, which you can access at any time. Additionally, you’ll find your initial skills like Animal Grooming, Electrician, and Fishing in the same area; these abilities become available shortly after.
In the game “Infinity Nikki”, to capture a bug, first ensure that the relevant ability is activated on your Ability Wheel. Then, press and hold down the designated ‘Ability’ key. Nikki will transform into her bug-catching attire, complete with a butterfly net for capturing critters. Move towards the bug you wish to catch. When the gold net symbol appears above it, release the ability button, and Nikki will swiftly swoop her net, capturing the bug which will then be stored in your inventory.
Catching bugs will also boost your “Understanding of Bug-Catching” gauge, which is essential to unlock extra accessory designs and upgrades for Afternoon Shine on your Heart of Infinity map. Furthermore, certain Whimstars in the open world transform into a Whimflutter, or a butterfly-shaped Whimstar that requires your bug-catching skill to capture.
