StarRupture, the latest game from the creators of Green Hell, offers a uniquely challenging survival experience. Its most striking feature is a planet-wide event that instantly destroys everything, forcing players to be very strategic when choosing their starting character, each of whom has a different backstory and set of skills.

Which Character Should You Choose in StarRupture?

As of right now, the characters in StarRupture don’t really feel distinct from each other, aside from their voice acting and unique personalities, which you mostly notice when they speak or react. It looks like the game is designed with specific roles in mind – Soldiers for fighting, Biologists for healing and support, Engineers for building, and Scientists for research – but these roles aren’t fully implemented yet.

We don’t know yet if the developers have removed the feature that gave X character extra abilities based on their Role. It’s also unclear if it will return in a future update. Keep in mind this is an Early Access game, so things are still subject to change.

Feel free to choose any character and play the game however you enjoy – it doesn’t seem like any character is better than another.

If players team up in cooperative mode, they can select characters based on the roles they prefer. The conversations and interactions between these different roles are really funny – they don’t always get along, creating a playful dynamic as they navigate the dangerous world of Arcadia-7. And don’t expect much help from your AI assistant, GAL, in smoothing things over!

How To Change Characters in StarRupture

In StarRupture, each character doesn’t offer unique gameplay experiences. But you can easily switch between characters whenever you like! Here’s how:

  • First, unlock the Regeneration Chamber by leveling up Future Health Solutions to Level 2 (or go to the Landing Pod).
  • Place and activate the Regeneration Chamber, or use the one in the Landing Pod (starter area).
  • Choose whichever character you want, then accept.
  • The character will switch, but players will keep their inventory and unlocked skills.

This is an easy way to figure out which character best suits your playstyle. You can choose from the eccentric Scientist, the tough Engineer, the reliable Soldier, or the cautious Biologist. You can’t really go wrong with any of them, so feel free to pick the one that interests you most and have fun exploring Arcadia-7!
