Furfrou returns in Pokémon Legends: Z-A with all its unique ‘haircuts,’ and players can get each style by finding a special groomer in Lumiose City.
This guide will show players how to find and catch the Poodle Pokémon, Furfrou, in Pokémon Legends Z-A, and explains how to unlock its different styles and cuts.
Where to Find Furfrou in Pokemon Legends Z-A
Furfrou won’t be available until later in Pokemon Legends Z-A. You can find it in the Wild Zones 11 and 17 – with Alpha Furfrou appearing specifically in Zone 17. Once you catch Furfrou, you can unlock all of its different forms (called ‘Cuts’) by following a few steps.
How To Unlock All Furfrou Forms in Pokemon Legends Z-A
In Pokémon Legends Z-A, you can get all of Furfrou’s different forms by finishing the Side Quest ‘Becoming a Furfrou Trimmer’. You’ll find this quest in Jaune Sector 6, right near the entrance to Wild Zone 11.
You’ll find a character with a side quest who needs help becoming a Furfrou groomer. The goal of the quest is to teach her Scyther the move Slash. If you chose Feraligatr as your starting Pokémon, this quest should be easy!
If you don’t have that Pokémon, any of these will work just as well: , , , Scyther/Sizor, or .
To complete the mission, you need a Pokémon that knows the move Slash. Find the Substitute Doll near the NPC and use Slash on it – this will teach your Scyther the perfected version of the move. Once you do that, the mission is finished, and you’ll unlock new Furfrou trims and forms.
As you progress through the main story, the Trimmer will ask you to “Become a Pro Furfrou Trimmer.” To do this, you’ll need to find a Pokémon that knows the move Razor Leaf – or any other Grass-type Pokémon with that move. Then, use Razor Leaf on the Substitute Doll to unlock even more Furfrou Forms, just like before.
Okay, so I finally figured out the last Secondary Mission to get all the Furfrou forms! It’s called “Becoming a Peerless Furfrou Trimmer,” and it’s a little weird. Basically, I had to show Scyther the move Psycho-Cut. Luckily, Gallade can learn it too, so either one worked for me!
All Available Furfrou Trims in Pokemon Legends Z-A
After finishing the ‘Becoming a Peerless Furfrou Trimmer’ quest, you’ll have access to all of the different Furfrou trims in Pokemon Legends Z-A.
- Heart Trim
- Star Trim
- Debutante Trim
- Diamond Trim
- La Reine Trim
- Matron Trim
- Dandy Trim
- Pharaoh Trim
- Kabuki Trim
Whenever players want to change their Furfrou’s Form, they’ll need to pay the Trimmer 500 Poke Dollars.
Okay, so here’s a tip from my experience: if you’re trying to get all the different Furfrou forms, definitely catch a bunch of them before you go to the Trimmer. That way, you can get every single form added to your Pokedex – trust me, it’s way easier than trying to find specific ones later!
