All Gigantamax Pokemon in Pokemon GO

In September 2024, Dynamax battles were introduced to Pokemon GO. However, it wasn’t until late-October 2024 that Niantic incorporated Gigantamax Pokemon into the game. Unlike Dynamax, Gigantamax Pokemon undergo a unique transformation: their appearance changes significantly, and they gain an exclusive move called a G-Max Move.

Thirty-two different Pokemon possess Gigantamax transformations, however, as of now, they aren’t all available within Pokemon GO. In Max Raid events, though, you can encounter specific Gigantamax Pokemon and fight against their Gigantamaxed versions in a 6-star raid. If successful, there’s an opportunity for you to catch your own unique Gigantamax Pokemon!

Every Gigantamax Pokemon in Pokemon GO (July 2025)

By July 2025, a grand total of 13 Gigantamax Pokemon will be available in Pokemon GO. There’s been buzz about Eternatus’ Eternamax form, given the upcoming Max Finale in August 2025. To engage in a Max Battle, you’ll require 800 Max Particles and position yourself within 80 meters of the Power Spot. Keep these conditions in mind if you aim to catch any of the listed Gigantamax Pokemon.

Gigantamax Venusaur, Gigantamax Charizard, and Gigantamax Blastoise

Release Date Event
October 26, 2024 GO Bigger

Initially, only Gigantamax Charizard had its Gigantamax form in the original release of Pokemon Sword/Shield. Later, Gigantamax Venusaur and Gigantamax Blastoise were introduced with the Isle of Armor DLC expansion. All three Kanto final evolutions made their appearance simultaneously within Pokemon GO. Between October 26, 2024 and October 27, 2024, players could engage in battles against Gigantamax Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise during the “GO Bigger” event within the game.

Although “GO Bigger” has concluded, GO continues to reuse these three Pokemon for events such as the Max Finale (August 23, 2025). This means you’ll get another opportunity to fight them if you didn’t catch them during the initial round.

Gigantamax Gengar

Release Date Event
October 31, 2024 Halloween 2024 Part II

During the thrilling “Halloween 2024 Part II” extravaganza, I was beyond excited to discover that it wasn’t just Froakie and Rowlet making their debuts! From October 31–November 3, 2024, the spooky spectacle of Gigantamax Gengar could be found at Power Spots. The chilling Pokédex entries of this Gigantamax wonder left an indelible impression among the roster of Gigantamax Pokémon in Sword/Shield, and now I can’t wait to add one to my collection in Pokemon GO!

Gigantamax Gengar’s Ghost/Poison-typing makes it vulnerable to Ghost, Psychic, Ground (only in GO), and Dark-type moves. So, when the enigmatic shadow of Gigantamax Gengar reappears, I’ll be prepared with some Dynamax Pokémon that can exploit its weaknesses!

Gigantamax Toxtricity

Release Date Event
November 16, 2024 Pokemon GO Wild Area: Fukuoka
November 24, 2024 Pokemon GO Wild Area: Global

Starting from November 16, 2024, Toxtricity became the first Pokémon from Generation 8 to appear in its Gigantamax form within Pokémon GO. This event took place initially in “Pokémon GO Wild Area: Fukuoka.” Later, on November 23-24, 2024, it was accessible globally through “Pokémon GO Wild Area: Global.” However, battling or catching Gigantamax Toxtricity required purchasing a Pokémon GO Wild Area ticket. The event ran for a limited time and it’s yet to be confirmed when Gigantamax Toxtricity will be available again outside the paywall.

Gigantamax Lapras

Release Date Event
December 8, 2024 Max Out

In December of 2024, Gigantamax Lapras made its appearance on the 8th, marking the “Gigantamax Lapras Max Battle Day.” Similar to other Gigantamax Pokémon, Gigantamax Lapras could only be found during Max Raids for a brief period. Luckily, another opportunity to face it in battle was provided on its “Max Battle Day” (July 19, 2025), which fell within the Delightful Days event.

To defeat Gigantamax Lapras, a dual Water and Ice-type Pokemon, it’s important to use moves from Electric, Fighting, Grass, or Rock types to counter its weaknesses. Remember, it’s not advisable to engage in battle with Gigantamax Lapras if you’re not part of a group of at least 10 trainers. In the meantime, prepare your strongest Dynamax Pokemon for upcoming 6-star raids by enhancing their Max Moves before the next appearance of Gigantamax Lapras.

In the games Pokémon Sword and Shield, when Gigantamax Lapras made its appearance, it brought along Max Mushrooms. These mushrooms in those games were employed to activate a Pokémon’s Gigantamax form or reverse them back to Dynamax form. However, in Pokémon GO, the function of Max Mushrooms differs significantly. They temporarily amplify your Fast and Charged Attacks, as well as your Max Moves during Max Battles. The more Max Mushrooms you use, the longer these effects last.

Gigantamax Kingler

Release Date Event
February 1, 2025 Dual Destiny

In the kickoff of 2024, on February 1st from 2:00pm to 5:00pm local time, “Pokemon GO” will feature Gigantamax Kingler in 6-star Max Battles for the occasion of “Dual Destiny’s” Max Battle Day. Being a Water-type Pokemon, Gigantamax Kingler is vulnerable to Grass and Electric-type attacks, which are quite common. However, be prepared as your team encounters its formidable G-Max Move: G-Max Foam Burst. This attack can easily knock out one of your Pokemon when boosted by a 6-star raid. Similar to the appearance of Gigantamax Lapras, Gigantamax Kingler’s day has passed but it is expected to return again.

Gigantamax Snorlax

Release Date Event
April 19, 2025 Might & Mastery

Among the most imaginative designs for Gigantamax characters, the one for Snorlax stands out particularly. Initially introduced in Pokémon GO during the “Might & Mastery” event held in 2025, Gigantamax Snorlax made an appearance. Specifically on April 19, 2025, this colossal form of Snorlax was found at Power Spots for Max Raids with a 6-star difficulty rating. Trainers had only a three-hour window, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM local time, before the Gigantamax Snorlax ceased to spawn. Given its immense size, regular Snorlax already being quite hefty, this expanded bulkiness should be taken into account when choosing a battle strategy. It is advisable to engage with a full team rather than solo, keeping in mind type matchups for the best results.

Gigantamax Machamp

Release Date Event
May 25, 2025 Might & Mastery

As a dedicated Pokémon GO gamer, I can tell you that on May 25, 2025, Gigantamax Machamp made its grand entrance during the “Might & Mastery” event’s March-June season. This beast was Gym Leader Bea’s main Pokémon in Pokémon Sword/Shield, and it lived up to the hype!

The game welcomed Gigantamax Machamp with a special event called “Gigantamax Machamp Max Battle Day.” From 2:00pm to 5:00pm local time on May 25 (2025), we had the opportunity to challenge it in 6-star Max Raids. If you weren’t able to join in, you’ll just have to wait for its next appearance in Pokémon GO.

Gigantamax Rillaboom

Release Date Event
May 31, 2025 Serene Retreat

During the “Serene Retreat” event from May 30 to June 3, 2025, the massive form of Rillaboom, known as Gigantamax Rillaboom, was introduced. This special Pokemon appeared at Power Spots only between May 31 (6:00am local time) and June 1 (9:00pm local time). Now that the “Serene Retreat” event has concluded, you won’t encounter Gigantamax Rillaboom at Power Spots unless there is another in-game event. If you didn’t have a chance to capture one, focus on creating a team of Dynamax Pokemon with moves that exploit Gigantamax Rillaboom’s vulnerabilities, such as Ice, Fire, Flying, Bug, and Poison-type attacks.

Gigantamax Cinderace

Release Date Event
June 7, 2025 Instrumental Wonders

The latter half of the GO 2025 Festival was titled “Instrumental Wonders,” which occurred from June 7, 2025, to June 11, 2025. During this period, Pokemon such as Meowth, Beldum, and Falinks were encountered in the wild, but trainers were primarily interested in Gigantamax Cinderace. From June 7 at 6:00 am (local time) to June 8 at 9:00 pm (local time), Gigantamax Cinderace showed up at Power Spots due to it being the Fire-type starter of the Galar region, following Gigantamax Rillaboom. If you failed to participate in the Gigantamax Cinderace raids, you’ll have to wait until it reappears at GO’s Power Stops again.

Gigantamax Inteleon

Release Date Event
June 14, 2025 Phantom Ruins

The closing act of the GO Fest event was titled “Phantom Ruins,” taking place from June 14th to June 18th, 2025. Similar to Rillaboom and Cinderace, Gigantamax Inteleon made an appearance at Power Spots between June 14th (6:00 am local time) and June 15th, 2025 (9:00 pm local time). While a Dynamax Sobble can be captured from Power Spots, it will not have the ability to Gigantamax once it evolves into Inteleon. To obtain the Gigantamax Inteleon, you’ll need to defeat the one appearing in 6-star Raid Battles instead.

Gigantamax Butterfree

Release Date Event
August 3, 2025 Delightful Days

In the games Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, unlike Beedril, Butterfree didn’t receive a Mega Evolution but it did get a Gigantamax form instead. The date for Gigantamax Butterfree’s Max Battle is August 3, 2025 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm local time, marking its first appearance. However, it’s uncertain when it will make a return in Pokémon GO. Regrettably for Butterfree, its abilities and moves are weaker compared to the recently launched Dynamax Latios and Dynamax Latias. If you’re seeking powerful Dynamax Pokémon, you might prefer Dynamax Latios or Dynamax Latias over Gigantamax Butterfree and the Eon Duo.

Missing Gigantamax Pokemon in Pokemon GO (July 2025)

Despite much excitement about which Gigantamax Pokemon might show up next, it’s clear that several species are yet to be found in Pokemon GO. However, this situation may not last long due to Max Raid Days. Here are some Gigantamax Pokemon still absent from GO as of July 2025:

2. Gigantamax Charizard
3. Gigantamax Alcremie
4. Gigantamax Eevee

  • Gigantamax Orbeetle

  • Gigantamax Alcremie
  • Gigantamax Hatterene
  • Gigantamax Grimmsnarl

It’s important to mention that although some Pokemon like Hatterene and Centiskorch can be found in Pokemon GO, their Gigantamax forms cannot be caught just now. Additionally, there are Pokemon, such as Alcremie and Sandaconda, which aren’t even in the game yet (as of July 2025). However, when these newcomers are eventually added to the game, it’s expected that their Gigantamax forms will be introduced gradually over time.
