As a seasoned Elden Ring adventurer with countless hours spent traversing the Lands Between, I can confidently say that the Godrick’s Great Rune is a game-changer for any Tarnished embarking on their journey. The +5 boost to every attribute it provides is nothing short of miraculous, offering an equivalent of 40 free levels – quite the boost for early to mid-game explorers!
The game Elden Ring can be quite tough, even for those new to its stunning yet hazardous realm. To help make the adventure less daunting, it’s crucial to pick up a few tips to ease the challenge. One useful strategy is maintaining sufficient Health (HP) on your character to endure fierce assaults. Typically, the more extensive a Tarnished’s health meter, the longer they’ll last under enemy attack, magic, and projectile fire, providing players with additional leeway for mistakes.
In the world of gaming, armor is crucial for character longevity, but augmenting a character’s maximum health (HP) is an uncomplicated method to boost survivability. This means that players won’t be swiftly defeated by powerful attacks without the opportunity to quickly restore their health using a Flask of Crimson Tears. Luckily, games like Elden Ring and Shadow of the Erdtree provide an array of equipment, including armor, talismans, and useful items, that can elevate vitality. By assembling multiple items, players can secure a significant HP boost of over 50%, which is indispensable when confronting the game’s most ferocious or heavily-hitting enemies.
1 Crimson Amber Medallion +3
Raises Maximum HP By 10%
- Raises maximum health by 6%/7%/8%/10%
- Weight: 0.6
In the game Elden Ring, there are four Crimson Amber Medallions that players can discover. The basic version offers a 6% increase in total health, while the strongest, the +3 version, provides a full 10%. These medallions are valuable additions to many character builds, improving survivability significantly, and some believe it might be the best item for maximizing HP in the game. Unlike powerful but limiting Great Runes, this talisman doesn’t have any drawbacks or conditions, making it an ideal choice for any Tarnished aiming to better their odds against tough opponents.
The Crimson Amber Medallion +3 can only be obtained in Shadow of the Erdtree. It drops as a reward for defeating the Death Knight boss located in the Fog Rift Catacombs. In the base game, the Crimson Amber Medallion +2 is available near the end of the game, found in Leyndell, Ashen Capital.
2 Morgott’s Great Rune
Raises Maximum HP By 25%
Compared directly, Morgott’s Great Rune outperforms the Crimson Amber Medallion +3 significantly, providing a substantial 25% enhancement to your total health. This bonus is applied following all other health-related buffs, gear, and spells, leading to a noticeable increase in maximum HP. Similar to most Great Runes, Morgott’s requires a Rune Arc for activation. Although Rune Arcs are abundant throughout the Lands Between, Morgott’s Great Rune is recognized as one of the top two items for boosting health in Elden Ring.
As a passionate player, I’ve learned that to acquire this formidable Great Rune, I must first vanquish Morgott, the Ominous Monarch, hidden within Leyndell, the Imperial City. After successfully defeating him, I must then activate this Rune at the Divine Tower of East Altus, a site reachable only after traversing the elevator in the Outskirts Forbidden Lands.
3 Erdtree’s Favor +2
Raises Maximum HP By 4%
- Raises maximum HP by 4%, Stamina by 10%, and Equip Load by 8%
- Weight: 1.5
While the maximum health enhancement offered by Erdtree’s Favor +2 might not be the highest compared to other items in Elden Ring, it offers more than just a modest boost to health. This talisman also provides a 10% increase to your maximum Stamina and an 8% bump to your Equip Load. This versatility makes Erdtree’s Favor +2 a valuable asset for many characters in Elden Ring. It truly shines when combined with Radahn’s Great Rune, significantly boosting both Health and Stamina levels.
To obtain Erdtree’s Favor +2, players should make their way to Leyndell, the Ashen Capital. In a grand courtyard there, atop a branch, you’ll find the talisman. However, beware, it is protected by three Lesser Ulcerated Tree Spirits. Luckily for you, a swift dash can get you close enough to pick up the talisman, allowing you to retreat without having to engage in combat with every dangerous guardian.
4 Radahn’s Great Rune
Raises Maximum HP By 15%
- Raises HP, FP, and Stamina by 15% each
As a long-time Elden Ring player with countless hours spent traversing its vast and treacherous landscapes, I can confidently say that the Erdtree’s Favor +2 Talisman is one of my favorites among high-level gear. This talisman offers significant boosts to maximum HP, as well as a 15% increase in both Stamina and FP, making it an invaluable asset for any player looking to increase their resilience and combat potential.
As a gamer, I conquered the fearsome Starscourge Radahn in the realm of Caelid, which granted me the mighty Great Rune. But activating this rune’s power isn’t an easy feat – it demands that I climb the treacherous Divine Tower of Caelid, navigating tricky platforming challenges and dodging hidden dangers all the way to the peak.
5 Fire Knight Helm
Raises Maximum HP By 2%
- Raises maximum HP by 2%, Stamina by 5%, and Equip Load by 4%
- Weight: 4.0
In the game “Shadow of the Erdtree,” a fresh addition has emerged as one of the rare armor pieces in “Elden Ring” that enhances a character’s overall health directly. Although the boost to health is somewhat small, this helmet also offers other beneficial enhancements, such as increasing Stamina by 5% and Equip Load by 4%. This essentially puts it on par with the standard version of the Erdtree’s Favor talisman. Furthermore, the Fire Knight Helm provides robust protection, boasting impressive durability and strong resistance to both Physical and Fire damage.
Players need to battle against the formidable Fire Knights residing in the Shadow Keep multiple times. Only when defeated will one of these Fire Knights drop the sought-after, potent helm they’ve been striving for.
6 Godrick’s Great Rune
Raises Vigor By +5
- Raises all attributes by +5
Among the many powerful items in Elden Ring, Godrick’s Great Rune is often considered a top pick for early to mid-game players. It offers an all-around attribute increase of +5, effectively giving Tarnished characters an instant level boost of about 40. This boost to Vigor, in particular, can substantially enhance a player’s maximum Health Points (HP), depending on their character’s current Vigor level.
Godrick’s Great Rune is obtained after defeating Godrick the Grafted at Stormveil Castle. To activate it, players must travel to the Divine Tower of Limgrave, accessible via the Limgrave Tower Bridge guarded by Golems.
7 Crimson Hood
Raises Vigor By +1
- Raises Vigor by +1
- Weight: 1.7
While the Crimson Hood may not offer the greatest boost to maximum health, providing just a +1 to Vigor, it’s worth noting that fans of its distinctive and eye-catching design in Elden Ring will find it rewarding due to its useful features. This hood stands out for its lightweight construction, but more importantly, it provides robust resistance against Focus and Vitality drain, as well as reliable protection from various elements.
1. After wrapping up Roderika’s mission and activating the spirit tuning feature, players will discover the Crimson Hood hidden within Stormveil Castle. You can pick it up from a stack of corpses in a room close to the Grafted Scion mini-boss fight.
8 Radagon’s Soreseal
Raises Vigor by +5
- Raises Vigor, Endurance, Strength, and Dexterity by +5, but increases damage taken by 15%
- Weight: 0.8
In Elden Ring, the Enchanted Radagon’s Scarseal talisman is a stronger variant of the original, offering a +5 bonus to Vigor, Endurance, Strength, and Dexterity (as opposed to +3 with the standard Scarseal). This attractive advantage, however, comes with a substantial disadvantage: it raises the damage taken by 15% (up from 10% with the regular Scarseal). As players advance through the mid-game, these talismans may become less beneficial due to the increased damage dealt by enemies, potentially leading to more frequent deaths. For those aiming to increase their total HP, it’s usually wiser to opt for the Erdtree’s Favor or Crimson Amber Medallion instead.
To find Radagon’s Soreseal, players need to extensively explore Fort Faroth located in Caelid. This artifact can be found on a body that can be reached through an opening in the fort’s upper levels.
