Reaching the Tempest Layer (SL900) in Donkey Kong Bananza, you’ll encounter the Wise Elephant, who requests your assistance along with Pauline to recover two fragments from an Olden Scripture.
In the level of Donkey Kong Bananza, you’ll encounter an optional challenge: Tempest Layer Challenge Course 1 – Liftoff Labyrinth. This course features not just one or two, but a secret stash of three bananas known as Banandium Gems. This guide will help you discover their hidden locations.
Where to Find the Liftoff Labyrinth Entrance in Donkey Kong Bananza
SL900
If you find yourself directly before the Elder Elephant in Tempest Layer, just head to your right to discover the closed door leading to the testing chamber. Press and hold the L button so that Pauline can perform a song, thereby unlocking the entrance.

Banana #1
On this 2D platform level, be mindful to steer clear of fiery magma as you take advantage of a novel type of ground that allows Donkey Kong to levitate when he grips onto it. Navigate cautiously through the stage to make it to the finish line unscathed.
Luckily, the first Banandium Gem is right on the main path, and you cannot miss it.
Banana #2
In Liftoff Labyrinth, you’ll find the second Banana after passing the first Gem. You’ll jump over four rainbow platforms along the main path which ascends, but pay attention to the right wall beneath the magma platform – there’s a hidden gap you can squeeze through.
As you progress, you’ll encounter fragile ground which will guide you towards the Banana, followed by more of those colorful floating platforms that allow you to rejoin the primary route.
As you advance, expect to traverse some delicate terrain en route to the Banana, and then find yourself on a series of vibrant, floaty platforms which will help you return to the main track.

In the spirit of the thrilling levels found within Donkey Kong Bananza, the final banana is waiting for me smack dab before the barrel marking the end of the stage. Hooray!
In case you haven’t noticed, Banandium Gems serve as keys for enhancing and unleashing Donkey Kong’s abilities within the Skill Tree. You can access it by pressing the upward button on your D-pad, or alternatively, if a skill point is unlocked, the menu will pop up automatically, inviting you to upgrade.
