As someone who has spent countless hours navigating the vibrant streets of Kamurocho and beyond in the Yakuza franchise, I am absolutely thrilled for the upcoming adventure that is Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. The prospect of playing as Goro Majima, one of my favorite characters, and exploring familiar yet refreshed locations like Hawaii, is nothing short of exhilarating.
It’s easy to understand why fans are already buzzing about “Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii“. This upcoming project revolves around an intriguing premise that takes players back to the tropical landscapes of Hawaii, but this time from the viewpoint of fan-favorite character Goro Majima. After losing his memory, Majima suddenly finds himself as the captain of a pirate ship in this exciting new adventure.
Although not initially a major installment, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza is already showing signs of an expansive scope, which is quite remarkable considering that the massive open-world game Infinite Wealth was launched just eight months ago. Consistently, Ryu Ga Gotoku has excelled at reusing environmental elements in its games while maintaining a sense of novelty, and it appears that Pirate Yakuza is aiming to follow suit by leveraging the recent Hawaiian assets introduced in Infinite Wealth. Many of the significant locations for the upcoming game have already been unveiled, and players can anticipate exploring both new areas and revisiting familiar ones with a fresh perspective.
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii Puts a Fresh Spin on a Familiar Setting
Just as anticipated, a large chunk of the playable areas in “Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii” will be the main island itself, much like the map that left players awestruck in the latest “Infinite Wealth”. However, it remains uncertain how much of this expansive map will be accessible within “Pirate Yakuza”. Previews of the game have shown Majima participating in the chaotic Crazy Delivery mini-game from “Infinite Wealth”, and it’s been confirmed that “Pirate Yakuza” is set to be approximately 1.5 times larger than “The Man Who Erased His Name”.
It appears that the complete map of “Infinite Wealth’s” Hawaii is expected to be included in “Pirate Yakuza”, enabling players to explore the extensive and picturesque part of the island as seen through Goro Majima’s perspective. Additionally, it has been verified that “Pirate Yakuza” will incorporate Nele Island as a setting, with this island serving as the primary end-game location in “Infinite Wealth”, where the Palekana cult resided.
In the storyline of “Pirate Yakuza”, we find ourselves six months following the occurrences in “Infinite Wealth” and the demise of Bryce Fairchild, the renegade leader of Palekana. This leaves Nele Island potentially calm but in a state of neglect and decay. As such, Nele Island might serve as the equivalent to Dondoko Island from “Infinite Wealth”, which was gradually transformed by Ichiban into a bustling resort through gameplay reminiscent of “Animal Crossing”.
Some of Pirate Yakuza’s Most Promising Locations Are Brand-New
In relation to new settings, the action-adventure game “Pirate Yakuza” will incorporate Rich Island as well. This is where Majima arrives with no recollection of his past, as shown in the game’s reveal trailer. It appears that Rich Island might serve as a central hub for “Pirate Yakuza”. This could be a refuge during the chaotic pirate escapades and the dramatic narrative tension promised by this upcoming project, offering a potential sanctuary amidst the excitement.
In the confirmed last location for “Pirate Yakuza”, known as Madlantis, we find an area teeming with intrigue and chaos – a perfect backdrop for the game’s exciting features. Madlantis is described as a haven for pirates from far and wide, offering pleasure and naval battles, making it a prime spot for some innovative mini-games within “Pirate Yakuza”. The main adversary of “Pirate Yakuza”, Queen Michele, rules over Madlantis, giving the location a similar feel to the Castle Barge from “The Man Who Erased His Name” in terms of theme and gameplay. The promised gameplay and storyline of “Pirate Yakuza” already seem captivatingly unique, and the confirmed locations only serve to heighten this anticipation.
