As a seasoned veteran of multiplayer shooters, I can confidently say that the success or failure of Marvel Rivals hinges significantly on its maps and game modes. Having played my fair share of online battles, I’ve come to realize that these core aspects can make or break a game. But after witnessing the Marvel Rivals alpha and beta tests, I’m optimistic that this hero-packed extravaganza is off to a solid start.
In the exciting game Marvel Rivals, you engage in battles that span a vast array of Marvel character licenses, including Thor and Black Panther. The game is packed with various characters and iconic locations from the universe. Here’s a rundown of all the confirmed maps and game modes for you to explore:
I’ve played many online multiplayer shooters, and it’s incredible how opinions can vary depending on the title’s maps and game modes. These are core fundamentals of a shooter’s identity, meaning if Marvel Rivals‘ DNA is flawed in this regard, it could fail before it even gets started.
Based on the test phases of Marvel Rivals, it seems improbable that there will be any changes. Therefore, here’s a rundown of all the maps and game modes we can expect when Marvel’s blockbuster hero launch arrives.
Every Marvel Rivals Map
At present, we’re familiar with nine different battlefields in Marvel Rivals. Interestingly, most of these arenas are located in the same recurring spots. Here’s a look at each one that’s been announced:
- Hydra Charteris Base: Hell’s Heaven
- Klyntar: Symbiotic Surface
- Tokyo 2099: Shin-Shibuya
- Tokyo 2099: Spider-Islands
- Tokyo 2099: Warped Ninomaru
- Wakanda: Birnin T’Challa
- Wakanda: Hall of Djalia
- Yggsgard: Royal Palace
- Yggsgard: Yggdrasill Path
As a gamer, I’m super excited to let you know that when this multiplayer game officially drops, we might just be getting our hands on some new maps! So keep your eyes peeled for more action and content. Plus, since Marvel Rivals is jumping on the live-service bandwagon, it feels like a non-stop stream of fresh maps is just the tip of the iceberg. Can’t wait to see what else they have in store!
It’s exciting to think about using all these Marvel licenses, especially setting a grand fight within the Avengers Tower or the Quantum Realm!
All Marvel Rivals Map Rumors
Beyond the already known locations, there are rumors suggesting that numerous additional Marvel Rivals maps are upcoming, based on information leaked from an undisclosed source.
Journalist Ross Miller has mentioned that five additional maps, either in development or completed, are expected to be added to Marvel Rivals in a future content update. He revealed these upcoming locations: Hydra Erebus Base, The Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda, Klyntar, Empire of Eternal Night, and Krakoa.
Each area among the five should also contain maps within them. Keep in mind that this information should be taken with a pinch of salt, but it does make for intriguing reading.
Every Marvel Rivals Game Mode
Marvel Rivals is preparing to debut, offering players four distinct gameplay options: Seize (Conquest), Merge (Convergence), Escort (Convoy), and Control (Domination).
Conquest
In the game mode called “Conquest,” which is similar to “Kill Confirmed” in Call of Duty, players earn points for a kill not just by shooting their opponents, but also by picking up the fallen enemy’s token or coin. What sets this apart is that the worth of a coin grows as time passes.
Convergence
In this scenario, we’re following the model of Overwatch. The goal is to seize a control point initially, which sets off a payload. The attacking team then has to move the payload all the way to its destination along a straight path. On the flip side, the defending team aims to halt the payload at each checkpoint by pushing it back and fending off enemy forces.
Convoy
In simpler terms, the game mode called Convoy is reminiscent of Overwatch’s traditional Payload and Convoy modes in spirit. Unlike other games where you capture points, here it’s about either protecting or escorting an object that moves along a predetermined route.
Domination
In Marvel Rivals’ Domination game mode, the objective is simple: compete in a fast-paced race to seize and maintain control of a designated area. The team that successfully controls 100% of this zone may appear victorious; however, if even a single enemy combatant remains, the contest continues into overtime to determine the ultimate winner.
