How to Solve the Reliquary of Courage
Reliquary of Courage Location & Puzzle Solution
Okay, so I finally found the Reliquary of Courage! It’s tucked away in the western part of the Yotei Grasslands. Basically, you need to follow the Sarubetsu River upstream. Keep going until it splits – then take the left fork. You’ll eventually reach this open field, completely walled in by these huge bushes. The only landmark you can see peeking over them is Mount Yotei. And right in the middle of that little garden area is the Reliquary itself. When I checked out the altar, this riddle popped up:
A boy was lost and alone
But wolves came from every corner to guide him
Their eyes gazing at the true Mount Yotei
To solve this puzzle, you need to turn each of the fox statues to face Mount Yotei. Don’t worry, the statues don’t affect each other – you can rotate each one independently. Find each fox statue located north, east, south, and west of the altar, and keep interacting with it until it’s pointing west, towards Mount Yotei. Once they’re all facing the right way, the altar will open and you’ll be able to claim the treasure inside.
If you’re solving a Reliquary puzzle for the first time, you’ll receive the Charm of Mount Yotei. This charm slightly lowers all damage you receive, and also restores your health whenever you successfully perform a Perfect Parry.
How to Solve the Reliquary of Strength
Reliquary of Strength Location & Puzzle Solution
The Reliquary of Strength can be found close to Ishikari Fork in the Ishikari Plain region. To locate it, players should travel north of the Ishikari River until they see a mountain to the east. Then, follow the base of the mountain around its curve and climb to the top – that’s where the puzzle is located. Once you reach the top, you’ll be able to read the inscription on the altar:
The mountain raised the boy as her own
Demons looked away from them in fear
But the wolf watched them both, ready to provide aid
To solve the Reliquary of Strength puzzle, players need to position the fox statues with demon masks so they face away from the altar, but keep the fox statue *without* a mask facing *towards* the altar. It’s tricky because moving one statue also moves another, so you have to do it in a certain sequence. Here’s the order we’ve found that works:
- Spin the front left statue once
- Spin the back left statue twice
- Spin the front left statue once
- Spin the front right statue twice
Once you interact with the statues in the correct sequence, the altar will open, finishing this Reliquary puzzle. If you’ve completed it before, you’ll receive an upgrade to the Charm of Mount Yotei, and also get the Yotei’s Shelter Hat to wear. Completing the puzzle a second time unlocks these rewards.
How to Solve the Reliquary of Resilience
Reliquary of Resilience Location & Puzzle Solution
The Reliquary of Resilience is situated within the Tokachi Range. To find it, follow the Nupur River heading north. Once you reach Serpent’s Pass, travel east. The Reliquary itself is located east on the mountain, and the inscription on the altar says:
Within the caverns of Mount Yotei, a lost boy surrendered to a tired sleep
The wolves stood guard
Looking toward the mountain
Okay, so this puzzle actually wasn’t too bad once I figured it out. Basically, you need to get all the fox statues facing the pillar. But, like with other puzzles in this Reliquary, moving one statue also moves the others, which makes things tricky. So, I’m sharing how I finally managed to get all the foxes facing the altar without messing anything up:
- Spin the front left statue once
- Spin the back left statue twice
- Spin the front left statue once
- Spin the front right statue twice
- Spin the back right statue twice
Successfully completing the puzzle will give players an additional upgrade for the Charm of Mount Yotei, as well as a brand-new skin for the Katana called the Yotei’s Charge Weapon Kit.
How to Solve the Reliquary of Compassion
Reliquary of Compassion Location & Puzzle Solution
The Reliquary of Compassion is found in Teshio Ridge, past Sarobetsu Lake, by taking the northwest path in the area. It’s really important to buy the Hankyu bow from Ran the Bowyer before you begin – you can find them at any Inn or Village. Once you reach the lake, go directly north of the inn to find the gate to the Chilled Peak Shrine. Go through the gate and follow the path up the mountain. When you get to another icy lake, immediately turn left and continue along that path to find the Reliquary of Compassion. If you’re having trouble locating it, click here to see a video. Once you finally reach the reliquary altar, you can read its description:
The mountain took pity on the boy with no home
And lit her fire to keep the boy warm
The wolves gathered around, eyes on the mountain’s hearth
To move the fox statues, you first need to shoot the bundles of sticks under each one using the Hankyu Bow with Fire Arrows. If you run out of Fire Arrows, you can find more at the entrance to the Reliquary of Compassion. Once each statue is lit, you’ll need to rotate all 4 statues so the foxes are facing the altar. This puzzle is easier than the others, and here’s how we figured it out:
- Spin the front left statue twice
- Spin the back left statue twice
- Spin the back right statue twice
- Spin the front right statue twice
Once you finish the 4th Reliquary puzzle, you’ll receive the Yotei’s Mercy Mask, plus another improvement to your Charm of Mount Yotei.
How to Solve the Reliquary of Faith
Reliquary of Faith Location & Puzzle Solution
The Reliquary of Faith can be found on Oshima Coast, but you’ll need to complete The Oni and The Kitsune tales first to reach the area. Once you have access to Oshima Coast, begin at the entrance and turn left, heading east immediately. This will lead you up a mountain range, and eventually you’ll discover the Reliquary of Faith. The final inscription on the altar says:
The boy-made man crafted blessings of his own
So others born under Mountain Yotei
Will look to the true mountain for strength
This puzzle features 4 statues, though you can only reposition 3 of them – the fourth is situated on a rock you can’t reach. Your goal is to arrange the statues so that all 4 are looking towards Mount Yotei, and here’s how to do it:
- Spin the middle statue once
- Spin the right statue once
- Spin the middle statue twice
Completing the final Reliquary puzzle will reward you with the Yotei’s Blessing Dye for your Mercenary Outfit, and fully upgrade the Charm of Mount Yotei. You’ll also receive the Child of the Mountain Bronze Trophy.
