As a Heartopia player, I’ve learned that mushrooms aren’t just something nice to collect! They’re actually super important for making the best dishes, and once you figure out where to find them, they’re a fantastic way to make a lot of gold. Seriously, they’re a game-changer!
Mushrooms in Heartopia are different from plants like trees and bushes – they tend to grow in the same places. Once you learn where they are, you can easily make mushroom hunting a quick and rewarding part of your daily gameplay.
Where to Find All Mushrooms in Heartopia

Heartopia features six different kinds of Mushrooms. Four of these have special, colorful versions called “Bizarre” Mushrooms, which can’t be eaten but are fun to collect. Here’s a guide to all the Mushrooms in Heartopia and where to find them.
| Mushroom Type | Where to Find | Uses |
|---|---|---|
| Oyster Mushroom | Found around Onsen Mountain Lake. These are large mushrooms with flat grey caps that are easy to spot near rocky edges and water. They have three Bizarre variants: Yellow, Pink, and Purple, which appear randomly in the same spawn points. | Used in high-value cooking recipes. Excellent for gold farming, especially when cooked into Grilled Mushrooms. |
| Penny Bun | Grows throughout the Forest. These have a classic rounded brown cap and look like traditional mushrooms. Bizarre variants include Red, Purple, and a Pink–Yellow Gradient. They tend to spawn in the same exact spots, too. | Used in more advanced dishes and hobby progression recipes. Reliable for daily harvesting. |
| Black Truffle | Found on Forest Island as small dirt mounds rather than visible mushrooms. They have no Bizarre variants. | A premium ingredient. Dishes made with truffles sell for high gold. Great for profit cooking. |
| Shiitake | Located around the Fishing Village Square, usually near trees, signposts, and walls. They have light beige caps. Bizarre versions include Red, Purplish-Grey, and Blue. | Common cooking ingredient with valuable collectible variants. Used in many mid-to-high tier recipes. |
| Button Mushroom | Found in the Windmill Flower Field. These are tiny, low-to-the-ground mushrooms that often hide in tall grass and “hug” objects like fences and rocks. Bizarre variants are Pink, Blue, and Green. | Used in a wide variety of recipes. Bizarre versions are prized by collectors. |
| Matsutake | Hidden in the Spirit Oak Pine Forest. Grows in small white or tan clusters. Has no variants and is extremely rare. | A rare ingredient for special cooking recipes and one of the hardest items to collect. |
I’ve noticed something really cool about mushrooms – they always grow back in the same places! Once I find a good patch, I can come back every day and harvest them again. It’s awesome because I don’t have to keep searching all over the place!
