All New Pokémon Games Release Roadmap: Every Confirmed & Leaked Game

With the 30th anniversary of Pokémon coming up next year, excitement is building! New games and spin-offs have been announced, and leaks are giving fans a good look at what’s planned for the future.

Leaks are common in the Pokémon world, but recent ones are unusually extensive. They appear to reveal plans for the next five years, including details about games all the way through the next generation, which will be the 11th.

Here’s a complete overview of all the Pokémon games currently announced, plus a look at what’s planned for the future, including a development roadmap.

Every Confirmed Pokémon Game & DLC in Roadmap

Pokémon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimension DLC

Mega Dimension is confirmed downloadable content for Pokémon Legends: Z-A, and you can pre-order it now. Hoopa will be a key part of the story. Early details show that the first part of the game’s planned updates will include two different forms of Mega Raichu.

We don’t have a firm release date for Mega Dimension yet, but it’s expected to launch either before the end of 2025 or in early 2026. Other major releases are planned for later in the year.

Pokopia

Pokopia, launching in 2026, is a brand new Pokémon game where you play as a Ditto disguised as a human. It’s a relaxing farm simulation game, and many are comparing it to Animal Crossing.

Okay, so we don’t have a firm release date for Pokopia yet, but I’m guessing we’ll find out more on Pokémon Day – they’re celebrating 30 years, so it’s a big deal! I’m expecting Pokopia to come out earlier in the year, before the next generation of Pokémon games (Gen 10) which are supposedly coming later on. I’ll share more about Gen 10 when I can!

Pokémon Champions

Pokémon Champions is shaking up the competitive scene! Instead of using the newest games, future tournaments will be played in the free-to-play version of the game.

We still don’t have a confirmed release date for Pokémon Champions, but it needs to be available well before the 2026 Pokémon World Championships VGC tournament. This will give players time to learn the game and allow developers to fix any problems before the competition.

All Leaked Pokémon Games & DLC in Roadmap

Pokopia DLC

Recent leaks have hinted at downloadable content (DLC) coming for Pokopia. While no specifics about the content or release date have been revealed, it’s expected to be available before the next generation of the game (Gen 10) is released.

It appears the ‘Pokopia’ downloadable content is the first major leak regarding future Pokémon plans, but there’s likely much more information yet to be revealed.

Pokémon Wind & Waves: Gen 10

A new generation of Pokémon games, likely Generation 10, is almost certain to arrive in 2026. This is because Pokémon will be celebrating its 30th anniversary next year. Like official release dates for upcoming games, we can expect to hear more details during the Pokémon Day celebrations in February.

Recent major leaks have revealed a lot about the upcoming game, including its setting, new gameplay features, and substantial additions planned for future updates. While the exact release date is unknown, it’s currently expected to be released in late 2026.

Pokémon Wind & Waves DLC

Pokémon games used to add extra content through separate, enhanced versions or third games within each generation. Now, they’re using a downloadable content (DLC) model, as seen in games like Sword and Shield and Scarlet and Violet, and continuing with the upcoming DLC for Legends: Z-A.

The first DLC for Pokémon Generation 9 released nearly a year after the main game, followed by the second part a few months later. It’s currently unknown if the next generation (Gen 10) will follow this same release schedule, or if the DLC will be spread out over a longer period. However, we anticipate new DLC for Gen 10 sometime in 2027.

Pokémon Legends 3: Galar

According to recent leaks, the next Pokémon Legends game – likely to be released in 2027 or 2028 – will take players back to the Galar region, which first appeared in the Generation 8 games, but set 1,000 years in the past. This would be the second time a Pokémon Legends game explores a distant past, following the approach taken in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

The release date isn’t definite and will probably depend on when other games come out. The first Legends game was released in the first three months of the year, and Legends: Z-A in the last three. But unlike previous releases, Arceus came out in the same year as Scarlet & Violet.

Pokémon Seed: Multi-Region MMO

Pokémon is reportedly working on a large-scale online multiplayer game, internally called ‘Seed,’ with a potential release in 2028 or 2029. This ambitious project could be a major step forward for the franchise, aiming to connect different regions of the Pokémon universe and introduce traditional MMO elements, possibly starting with the tenth generation of games.

This expansive area combines all the Pokémon regions based in Japan – Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh – plus Kitakami, which was introduced in the Scarlet & Violet expansion.

We could apply the same method to the Galar, Kalos, and Paldea regions in Europe, but this is currently just an idea.

Pokémon Gen 11

Pokémon Generation 11 is expected around 2030, continuing the current four-year release pattern between generations. It’s the next major installment in the Pokémon franchise and doesn’t seem that distant.

We don’t know many specifics about the next generation of Pokémon (Generation 11) yet, especially considering the significant improvements that seem to be in development for future games.
