While pistols aren’t as powerful in Battlefield 6 as they used to be, they’re still useful for defending yourself when your main weapon isn’t an option, giving you a backup way to fight.
One of the best things about pistols in *Battlefield 6* is that you can use them effectively right away without needing to unlock upgrades. Since most players won’t rely on pistols as their primary weapon, we’ve ranked each one based on how well it performs in its default state.
Best Pistols in Battlefield 6
- M44 Rex
- M45A1
- P18
- ES 5.7
When *Battlefield 6* launched, it included four different pistols. Of those, the M44 Rex is generally considered the best choice when you need a backup weapon. While the others are usable, the M44 Rex is the most effective for quickly dealing with enemies at close range on any of *BF6’s* maps.
M44 Rex
As a Battlefield fan, I already knew what I was getting into with this revolver-style pistol. It’s seriously powerful up close! Within 15 meters, it does a ton of damage – 60 to the body and a massive 90 to the head. Basically, two shots will take down anyone, no matter where you hit them. And if you stick with it and unlock Rank 24, you can add the Hollow Point ammo, which is a game-changer. It boosts your headshot damage to 105, meaning instant kills are guaranteed! It’s a really satisfying weapon to use.
Okay, so the M44 definitely has some drawbacks. It doesn’t hold a ton of ammo, it’s not the fastest shooter, and it takes some serious skill to use effectively. Honestly, you *have* to be accurate with this thing, because one missed shot can mean a quick trip back to the spawn. But here’s the thing: inside about 15 meters, it’s actually pretty easy to hit your shots. And if you nail a headshot with Hollow Points, you can take down players using *any* weapon in BF6 – even shotguns! It’s a real game-changer when you get it right.
M45A1
The M45A1 pistol is a good middle ground between the M44 Rex and other pistols. Up close, it can quickly eliminate enemies with just three shots to the chest, making it very effective in surprise encounters. Even at 20 meters, it’s still quite powerful, taking only four shots to take down an enemy – a great performance for a semi-automatic pistol.
The M45A1 pistol’s main drawback is its small magazine. It starts with only 7 rounds, though you can upgrade it to hold 11 once you reach Rank 9. Similar to the M44, this pistol isn’t ideal for rapid firing. However, if you take your time and aim carefully, you’ll find it’s a very effective weapon.
P18
The P18 is a decent pistol – nothing fancy, but perfectly capable. It has a fast rate of fire and is accurate when shooting from the hip. You can quickly take down enemies up close with just four shots to the body. It’s reliable and, unlike some other pistols, doesn’t require a lot of skill to use effectively.
If you’re not focused on having the absolute best pistol in Battlefield 6, the P18 is a solid choice. Adding an extended magazine and a laser sight will make it effective in any situation.
ES 5.7
Unlike the more accurate M44 and M45A1, the ES 5.7 is designed for quickly firing a lot of shots at close range. It barely has any recoil, so it’s easy to keep shooting, and the large 20-round magazine means you don’t have to worry as much about running out of ammo, even if you miss a few shots.
The ES 5.7 pistol deals the least damage of any pistol in the game. Although it fires very quickly, it’s still the slowest weapon to take down enemies in *Battlefield 6*, even at its best range. It’s designed for medium-range combat, so it’s not very effective in close-quarters fights.
