As someone who has spent countless hours wielding the mighty weapons of God of War, I must say that each relic and artifact in this game adds a unique flavor to Kratos’s combat prowess. From the Hilt of Angrvadall, which never fails to deliver a powerful punch, to the Hilt of Skofnung, requiring a Herculean effort to obtain but rewarding the player with an unstoppable barrage of swords, each relic tells its own story.
In the epic adventure of God of War Ragnarok, a total of 14 relics are incorporated, each offering exclusive benefits to players seeking enhanced versatility and power in the game’s immersive combat system. Standout relics within God of War Ragnarok will provide remarkable sources of strength, such as boosting damage output, halting time, and uncovering hidden mini-bosses that lie beneath the surface.
To build the most powerful Kratos in God of War Ragnarok, players should aim to discover the finest relics and understand their effects during combat. This knowledge will significantly increase their chances of survival, potentially helping Kratos and Atreus overcome Fimbulwinter in any difficulty level or New Game Plus scenario.
14 Mystical Heirloom
Found Behind an Ice Wall in The Lake of Nine, Midgard, With the Draupnir Spear
- Awakens slumbering bosses.
In the game, The Mystical Artifact doesn’t play a role in battles but is primarily used for locating hidden bosses across the Nine Realms. If you’ve spotted a statue of a troll or a dragon before, it can be activated with the Mystical Artifact nearby. A total of four such bosses are discoverable using this artifact.
- Dragon Beach, East of the Bay of Bounty, Svartalfheim
- Noatun’s Garden, Vanaheim
- The Forbidden Sands, Alfheim
- The Derelict Outpost, Midgard
Once all four of these minibosses have been found and defeated, the Mystical Heirloom is useless.
13 Hilt of Hrotti
Reward For Defeating the Second Oath Guard Miniboss in The Plains, Vanaheim
- Applies a mark to nearby enemies. Attacking a marked enemy reduces Runic Cooldowns of the equipped weapon. Killing a marked enemy grants a Blessing of Runic.
While the Runic power of certain weapons can prove beneficial, it’s not always essential to maximize the potential of top-tier weapons. Therefore, the Hilt of Hrotti should primarily be utilized by players who heavily rely on specific weapon builds. In essence, this artifact might not be crucial for most gamers.
12 Hilt of Ridill
Crafted After Defeating Olaf Nautson in Animal Instincts
- Unleash a wave of Shock to electrify enemies.
Other artifacts might be more powerful, but the Hilt of Ridill isn’t shabby for beginners embarking on their journey. It excels at pushing back and stunning adversaries due to its shock damage that electrifies nearby enemies, causing a temporary stun, offering a brief moment of relief.
11 Hilt of Dainsleif
Crafted After Defeating Ormstunga in Alberich Hollow
- Slam the ground to create an explosion of Seior Poison, leaving behind a hazard.
Poison is a useful status effect against the multitudes of the Nine Realms, yet it’s not ideal for end-game combat. Using the Hilt of Dainsleif, players can generate an explosion that leaves a trail of poison, but the gradual damage caused by the poison might be better saved for another relic with more significant impact.
10 Hilt of Tyrfing
Crafted After Defeating Blatonn in The Abandoned Village, Vanaheim
- Charge the sword to sacrifice Health and deal damage based on the amount of Health lost.
The Hilt of Tyrfing is a valuable artifact that offers both significant danger and potential victory. By wielding it, players sacrifice their own health to inflict greater damage. Regaining lost health can be challenging, but for those players eager to demonstrate their mastery over parries, evades, and dodges against formidable opponents, this relic could prove invaluable.
9 Glaive of Dodher
Reward For Defeating Fiske in The Reckoning
- Throw 3 Bifrost chakrams that swerve into enemies.
As a fanatic admirer of Kratos, wielding Bifrost chakrams that home in on foes like guided missiles, delivering a devastating burst of harm, is an exhilarating experience. The swiftness of these projectiles syncs perfectly with my attacks, making them even more effective. Merging speed and power, while unleashing the potential of Bifrost, seems to be a strategic move tailored for aggressive gameplay.
8 Motsognir’s Call
Found in the Aesir Prison Wreckage, Niflheim, Post-Story
- Create a shockwave that deals high Stun to surrounding enemies.
If enemies are swarming Kratos, using Motsognir’s Call to generate a shockwave that pushes them back and inflicts significant stun on them could be very effective. However, the drawback of this artifact is that it’s found after the main storyline has been finished, leaving only some endgame content to explore.
7 Hilt of Forsbrandr
Find All 48 Odin’s Ravens and Defeat The Raven Keeper in Niflheim
- Push enemies back with force and grant an aura of protection.
Overcoming the Raven Keeper is not a walk in the park, but the payoff is substantial. Players will obtain a defensive artifact that offers them a shield against imminent demise by repelling adversaries and bestowing an aura of safety, granting them temporary invincibility – albeit for a limited time. This respite could be the lifesaver Kratos needs to rejuvenate and prepare for battle once more.
6 Hilt of Gram
Found in a Legendary Chest in The Temple of Light, Alfheim
- Grants a burst of Rage and applies Stun to nearby enemies.
As a gamer, I find this artifact particularly useful when Kratos is running low on Spartan Rage. It’s great for both boosting his damage output and refilling his health reserves. Not only does it give him an instant surge of Rage, but it also stuns nearby enemies, giving me the perfect opportunity to pummel them with Kratos’ fists and deliver those devastating finishers.
5 Hilt of Angrvadall
Crafted After Defeating Gravel Belly in The Desert Door
- Slash forward three waves of light that deal drastically increased damage.
Under the guidance of the Hilt of Angrvadall, the Ghost of Sparta will launch three successive, intensifying bursts of light, dealing increasingly more damage as they go. While not the most destructive artifact around, it’s undoubtedly effective and capable of knocking down anyone unfortunate enough to be struck by its mighty force.
4 Hilt of Skofnung
Reward For Defeating King Hrolf Kraki at King’s Grave, Midgard
- The sword unleashes its power from the souls within…
In the game called Skofnung’s Hilt, players must vanquish all twelve Berserkers. This won’t be an effortless task. For those who manage to subdue these Berserkers, a formidable power awaits in the shattered hilt of King Hrolf. When wielded, it releases a volley of swords that can repeatedly knock back and keep enemies airborne until they are finally defeated.
3 Talisman of Meign
Rewarded During The Quest For Tyr
- Grants a bonus to Melee damage for a short duration.
The Talisman of Meign serves as a fairly effective artifact for individuals seeking to increase the potency of their close-combat weapons. Boosting damage output is always beneficial, and it offers players the necessary aggression to vanquish formidable enemies.
2 Huldra Project #9
Crafted At Brok or Sindri for 10,000 Hacksilver in the Special Items Category
- Turn Mimir’s discomfort into a Bifrost blast against nearby enemies.
In the ninth installment of The Huldra Project, Kratos’s antics with Mimir’s head are absolutely laugh-out-loud funny! It’s not just for Mimir’s witty quips and sage advice, but also for the mighty Bifrost blasts that erupt from his eyes and mouth. These blasts effortlessly demolish Kratos’s foes. Poor Mimir cringes as he is turned into a formidable weapon, capable of staggering enemies and swiftly depleting their health bars with ease.
1 Hilt of Hofud
Reward For Defeating Heimdall in Creatures of Prophecy
- Distort space and time by creating a Realm Shift.
The Staff of Headhold, in its remarkable capabilities, allows for a Realm Transition, which effectively slows down time. This temporal slowdown gives Kratos an edge, as opponents barely manage to strike back, while he can unleash his full force in attacks. The Staff of Headhold essentially empowers Kratos to wreak havoc in the arena, leveraging time to his strategic advantage.
