As a seasoned gamer who’s spent countless hours traversing Hyrule and battling its various foes, I can’t help but appreciate the intricacies of the Zelda series and its expansive world. One such delightful detail is the wide array of costumes available for our beloved heroine, Zelda. The Black Cat costume, in particular, caught my eye, not just because it’s adorable, but also for its unique ability to speak with cats – a feature that adds a touch of whimsy to the gameplay experience.
In the game titled “The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom“, utilizing certain Zelda series Amiibos will grant unique in-game bonuses. Specifically, Zelda Amiibos unlock up to three different costumes within “Echoes of Wisdom“. The costume you receive depends on the type of Amiibo used, along with a variety of Smoothie ingredients and Monster materials.
In the game “Echoes of Wisdom”, you’re allowed to utilize Amiibo figures only three times daily. However, some players manipulate their system clock to bypass this limit. While adjusting your Switch’s time might cause inconvenience, it can be beneficial because even if you scan an Amiibo before unlocking costume options with them, all “Zelda” Amiibos will still reward you with valuable Smoothie and Monster materials with each use.
To acquire the Echoes of Wisdom Amiibo rewards, you must first finish the main story’s Hyrule Castle dungeon. Following the completion of Hyrule Castle, Zelda will change her outfit, indicating that you can now unlock Amiibo costumes. Prior to this, scanning an Amiibo will only provide Smoothie ingredients and Monster materials.
Blue Attire Costume
The Blue Gown is a variation of the Traditional Gown, but instead of being completely pink, it features a mix of the shades from Zelda’s costume in “Breath of the Wild” (blue) and “Ocarina of Time” (purple).
To acquire the Blue Attire costume in Echoes of Wisdom, players need to scan any Amiibo figure belonging to the Zelda series, which features Zelda as its character representation.
- The Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, Wind Waker, and Smash Bros. variants of Princess Zelda Amiibos
- The Sheik Super Smash Bros. Amiibo (because, spoiler alert for Ocarina of Time fans, Sheik is Zelda)
- The Zelda and Loftwing Amiibo from Skyward Sword
Red Tunic Costume
The Red Tunic outfit, similar to the Blue Attire outfit, is an alternate version of a costume present in the base game: the Green Tunic (Link’s costume). This red version could be a nod to “Four Swords Adventures”, but it’s more probable that it offers a distinct choice for those who prefer a different look compared to Link when he’s not the primary character.
To acquire the Red Tunic costume in Echoes of Wisdom, players need to scan any Amiibo figure from the Zelda series which showcases Link’s character. Examples include:
- The Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Link’s Awakening, Skyward Sword, and Smash Bros. variants of Link himself
- The Toon Link and Young Link Super Smash Bros. Amiibo
- The Wolf Link Twilight Princess Amiibo
- The Link Rider and Link Archer Amiibo
- The 8-Bit Link special Amiibo
Black Cat Costume

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but share my excitement about the distinctive Black Cat costume for Zelda! This enchanting outfit comes with an extraordinary feature – it allows Zelda to converse with our feline friends. When donned, Zelda adorns a headband embellished with sleek black cat ears and a stylish jumpsuit that mimics a cat’s form, complete with a tail for good measure! And here’s the best part: in her very own bedroom (accessible once you unlock Zelda Amiibo costumes), there sits a cat on guard, proudly showcasing its top-notch security skills.
It’s undeniably cute, and it actually serves a purpose, but it’s not the only way to talk to cats in Echoes of Wisdom.
In the game “Echoes of Wisdom”, you can access the regular Cat suit without using an Amiibo. To do this, simply finish the quest titled “Questioning The Local Cats” that’s located in Kakariko Village. Completing this quest will unlock the Cat costume within the game itself. Additionally, there’s a special version of the Cat costume known as the Black Cat suit. Owning either of these costumes will allow you to communicate with cats in-game.
Smoothie Ingredients & Materials
After collecting the three costumes from the “Echoes of Wisdom” Amiibo rewards pool or using your “Zelda” series Amiibo before completing Hyrule Castle, you will still receive additional rewards. Scanning any “Zelda” Amiibo will provide a small collection of ingredients to create Smoothies and materials like Monster Stones, Fangs, and Guts for battling monsters.
With each Amiibo figure scanned, the smoothie ingredients vary. You can scan up to three Amiibos within a 24-hour timeframe. To collect three distinct Amiibo costumes in one day, you’ll need to wait another full day (or adjust your Nintendo Switch clock) before receiving more Smoothie Ingredients.
Each time you activate “Echoes of Wisdom,” it’s beneficial since it offers a possibility for acquiring rare items such as Golden Eggs and Monster Stones. These items are often challenging to locate within the game on their own.
