Amazon reveals stats for the New World: Aeternum open beta

As a seasoned gamer with countless hours spent traversing virtual landscapes and battling formidable foes, I eagerly anticipate the arrival of New World: Aeternum. The recent stats from the open beta have piqued my interest even further, particularly given that the Swordbearer archetype seems to be the preferred choice among players. I’ve always had a soft spot for swords myself, so this bodes well for me.

Prior to the October 15th debut of New World: Aeternum on PC, Xbox, and PS5, Amazon Games has disclosed certain data gathered during the open beta.

The team utilized the beta period to evaluate the game’s performance prior to its release, with Christoph Hartmann, VP of Amazon Games, commenting: “As we prepare to embark on a thrilling new phase for New World, we are heartened by the initial response from players who gathered in Aeternum for the first time on both console and PC. We extend our gratitude to everyone who participated, and we can’t wait for gamers worldwide to dive into all that New World: Aeternum has to offer starting October 15.

Approximately a month from now, we’ll kick off an exhilarating new phase with New World: Aeternum – an engaging and captivating adventure suitable for both PC and console gamers. New World: Aeternum has been meticulously optimized for consoles, ensuring equal features for PC players and cross-play compatibility. All improvements made for consoles will also be accessible to PC users. The launch of New World: Aeternum will coincide with a significant content update, featuring an overhauled narrative style, improved dialogue, in-game cutscenes, and pre-rendered scenes, the introduction of the first large-scale PvP zone, demanding 10-player raids, new endgame solo challenges, and much more. Players can look forward to enjoying superior graphics and performance, equal input functionality, combat adjustments like target locking and aim assist, and controller navigation and accessibility options as well.

Based on the data, it appears that the character archetype preferred by many is the Swordbearer. Additionally, there are options like Ranger, Occultist, Mystic, and Soldier. Regarding weapons, bows were used most frequently, with swords, fire staffs, great swords, and hatchets coming next in popularity. Lastly, it was “Medea” who proved to be the toughest adversary.

During the brief three-day open beta, a staggering 10,454,330 quests were successfully completed by me and fellow gamers. The Sandwurm Fight was attempted by a brave 168 of us, but alas, not a single one of us emerged victorious, it seems. Across the open world, we slaughtered an impressive 39,664,622 enemies, while in the Amrine Excavation Expedition, we took down a formidable 986,367 foes.

New World: Aeternum is coming to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X on October 15th.
