The popular video game franchise, God of War, is slated for a live-action series on Amazon Prime, an exciting development for fans. Although we may have to wait a while before it hits our screens, the idea of this series is undeniably enticing. Over time, God of War has grown into one of the most impactful gaming franchises, and its success has paved the way for this adaptation to come to life on screen.
Currently, no definitive cast has been announced yet for the God of War series, but a major point of interest is who will portray Kratos. Finding an actor suitable for Kratos is no small feat, but with the release of Reacher’s third season, we might have found our ideal candidate in Dutch bodybuilder Olivier Richters, who played Paulie in Season 3. This talented individual could potentially breathe life into Kratos.
Spoilers ahead for Reacher Season 3.

Paulie Was a Juggernaut Who Met an Early End
- Paulie dies fighting Reacher in the season finale.
As a passionate gamer, I found Reacher and Paulie squaring off like two titans clashing in an epic battle. Both as resilient as battle-hardened tanks, they gave each other a run for their money, but in the end, Reacher emerged victorious, taking down Paulie. While Paulie had the makings of a formidable long-term villain, his departure from the series could potentially open up more exciting plotlines in the future. Olivier Richters, with his towering physique, seems tailor-made to step into the role of God of War’s demigod hero.
Season 4 of Reacher has been confirmed.
Olivier Richters’ Stats
Height | 7 feet, 2 inches |
Weight | 350lb |
Age | 35 |
It’s easy to see that he has a physique reminiscent of half-gods, making it straightforward to envision him as Kratos in the series. The actor chosen for Kratos should be capable of engaging in intense combat scenes. A battle between Paulie and Reacher could provide an intriguing sneak peek into what a live-action Kratos fight might look like. Given his size and strength, Olivier Richters appears to be the perfect fit for the role. Moreover, his age works perfectly for casting directors – at 35, he has ample years to portray Kratos convincingly over time.
It’s been hinted that Amazon is considering a long-term approach for its God of War series. Showrunner Ronald Moore has disclosed that two seasons of God of War have already been commissioned by Amazon. If Richters are to be considered, their age could make them an excellent fit if the show were to run for multiple seasons beyond that point.
It’s not surprising that God of War isn’t the first video game to receive a live-action series, as both HBO’s second season of The Last of Us and the filming of season two of Fallout are underway.
Paulie’s Death Could Be More Than it Seems
It’s just a guess, but there’s a chance that Paulie could have been eliminated because Amazon might be considering Richters for his part. After all, he played a substantial role in one of their popular streaming series, which suggests they’ve already noticed him. Nonetheless, it might be jumping the gun to assume this, as Paulie’s character faces a violent demise in the novels too, so his fate was predictable. Still, with Richters now available for other projects, it’s an exciting prospect, and we can hope that his departure from Reacher will lead to even greater opportunities for him in the future.
At the moment, we can’t predict what surprises the God of War series might hold when it becomes live-action. Given the current trend of live-action video game adaptations, it will be intriguing to see how they manage to make the already cinematic God of War feel new yet stay true to its original content.
