Amazon’s upcoming Tomb Raider shows and games will be connected, creating one large, shared story world for the franchise. It seems they’re aiming for a fresh take on the entire series.
Earlier this year, we learned several things about Amazon’s upcoming Tomb Raider series, most notably that Sophie Turner will play Lara Croft. We also found out filming is scheduled to start in January 2026. Now, new information has come to light about how Amazon is approaching the show.
Tomb Raider Series Will Interconnect the Live-Action Show and Video Games
Eurogamer noticed updates to Story Kitchen’s website that shed light on Amazon’s upcoming Tomb Raider series. The details show a new agreement between Story Kitchen, Crystal Dynamics, and Amazon MGM Studios to “completely reimagine the franchise.” The show will also connect the television series and video games, creating one shared story universe.
Okay, so I’m super hyped about the new Tomb Raider series Amazon’s making! Phoebe Waller-Bridge – you know, the genius behind Fleabag – is leading the whole thing. She’s basically going to be reimagining the entire Lara Croft world, which sounds amazing. Plus, Jonathan Van Tulleken, who worked on Shogun, is directing and producing, and Chad Hodge is joining as an executive producer and co-showrunner. It’s a seriously talented team, and I can’t wait to see what they come up with!
Fans were surprised last month when Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition suddenly became available on both Switch and the new Switch 2.
