AMD Says Next Xbox Console May Launch Next Year

An update on when the next Xbox console could come home to players.

During a recent earnings call, AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su shared news about the next Xbox. She confirmed that Microsoft’s new console, which will use a custom AMD chip, is on track for a 2027 release.

During a conversation about AMD’s work creating custom chips – like those used in game consoles – the company mentioned when they might release a new product. They also predicted a substantial drop in revenue from this part of their business in 2026, estimating a decline of more than 10%.

The Relationship Between AMD and Xbox Explained

Microsoft revealed in 2025 that they’re collaborating with AMD to create their next console, as part of a long-term agreement.

Su announced that AMD would create specialized chips for Xbox consoles and develop a comprehensive plan for gaming chips. These chips would leverage the strengths of both Ryzen and Radeon technologies for a variety of devices, including consoles, handhelds, PCs, and cloud gaming.
