What is Ameku M.D.: Doctor Detective?

This series, initially a novel penned by Mikito Chinen and adorned with illustrations by Noizi Ito (known for her character designs in ‘Shakugan no Shana’ and contributions to ‘Sakura Wars’), is published in Japan by Shinchosa. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been licensed for publication in the US yet. The story has since inspired two manga adaptations and is now being animated as well.

The narrative centers around Ameku Takao, head of the Investigative Pathology department at a regular hospital. Her team is brought in when no one else can figure out what’s wrong with a patient. Given her profession, she frequently encounters baffling deaths and murders, which she finds intriguing to solve. This series could appeal to fans of Dr. House.

Dr. Takao Ameku serves as the enigmatic yet gifted head of investigative pathology at Tenikai General Hospital, responsible for diagnosing cases that other departments find perplexing. Beyond her professional duties, she has a passion for unraveling mysteries, which often leads her to delve into unsolved deaths and homicides. In tow during these escapades is her assistant, Yu Takanashi.

For Studio Project No. 9, famously known for “The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten,” the series animation is being managed. Directing duties are entrusted to Kazuya Iwata, who previously steered the less-appreciated “Love After World Domination.” Meanwhile, Satoru Sugizawa from “My Tiny Senpai” and Yuuko Kakihara from “Dragon Ball Daima” are serving as head writers. Sugizawa has a history of working on numerous Studio Project No. 9 productions, while Fox Capture Plan is responsible for the music composition.
