An AI Game is Blowing Up on TikTok, and People Frustrated They Can’t Play it

A game called Bird Game 3 is becoming very popular on TikTok, with short videos of its fast-paced action getting millions of views, likes, and comments. However, there’s a catch: Bird Game 3 isn’t a real game! Despite all the hype on TikTok and YouTube, it doesn’t actually exist.

TikTok has a huge gaming community where creators share info and gameplay footage of everything from the latest releases to old-school favorites and hidden indie gems. A game called Bird Game 3 initially seems like another one of these hidden gems, but players quickly discover it’s actually just a collection of videos created by artificial intelligence.

Bird Game 3 Is Not a Real Game

Okay, so this whole “Bird Game 3” thing is hilarious! It started on TikTok with this user, ancient_meme_archive, who posted a video on October 6th pretending to be the first to buy it. The video’s got over 1.8 million views, and it’s just brilliantly fake. He’s holding a game case for this made-up game on an Xbox 50, and everything about it is off. The price tag glitches out, and the cover art is this weird cardinal with one eye that’s kinda upside down! He acts like it’s a huge deal, saying it has a ‘fully explorable bird world’ and he’s rushing home to play. He’s kept the bit going with more videos too – one of him ‘playing’ with friends, and another where he pretends to visit the ‘Bird Game Studios North’ parking garage. It’s just a really clever, ongoing meme!

After the first video went viral, the TikTok community quickly joined the fun, creating numerous accounts dedicated to Bird Game 3 over the past few weeks. Many of these accounts falsely claim to be the game’s official developers. They’re filled with AI-generated gameplay footage that suggests the game is massive, featuring battles between birds like phoenixes, eagles, and blue jays—all while protecting their nests and engaging in aerial combat that ranges from realistic to completely over-the-top. It’s hard to define the game’s genre; most videos make it look like a fast-paced battle royale, but some portray it as a MOBA or even an open-world RPG. The community seems to be in on the joke, with players playfully complaining about the strength of certain birds—like the hummingbird—and accusing players who use them of having an unfair advantage.

The popular game seen in viral videos isn’t actually available to play—yet. However, a free online game called Bird Game 3 does exist on Unity Play, but it’s quite different from what you see on TikTok. Instead of realistic birds, this version lets you choose from five flying characters: a purple owl, a kiwi, a bat, a dragon, and a bat-human hybrid. With graphics reminiscent of older games and simple gameplay focused on collecting eggs, it’s not the experience most people are looking for when they search for Bird Game 3.

There aren’t many video games for bird lovers, but a few popular titles stand out. Escape from Duckov was a big hit when it launched in October, with over 300,000 players trying the duck-themed shooting game, which is similar to Escape from Tarkov. Other well-known games include Flappy Bird and the Angry Birds series. For a more realistic bird experience, check out Copoka on Steam. And if you’ve ever wanted to date birds in a video game, Hatoful Boyfriend is a dating sim where you play as a human who does just that.
