Analogue 3D Is Delayed Yet Again

The Analogue 3D console, modeled after the Nintendo 64, won’t debut in Q3 of 2025 as previously planned. Instead, it has been rescheduled to launch in Q4 of 2025. This retro console is designed to play all physical Nintendo 64 games and accessories seamlessly, while offering HDMI compatibility for use with contemporary TVs.

The Nintendo 64 (N64), introduced in 1996, encountered a challenging situation right from the start, as it needed to battle against Sony’s PlayStation and build upon the achievements of its earlier models, the NES and SNES. Unlike the PlayStation and Sega Saturn which primarily used CDs for games, the N64 continued using proprietary cartridges. The production of the N64 ceased in 2002 when the GameCube was launched, choosing a mini-DVD inspired game format over cartridges. Yet, the N64 is particularly remembered for its exclusive games such as Super Mario 64 and Banjo-Kazooie, which remain some of the top platformers still regarded highly today.

The Analogue 3D Has Been Pushed Back to Q4 2025

Despite initial plans to release the Analogue 3D this summer after a previous delay, the console inspired by the N64 has encountered another hurdle. On August 20th, Analogue disclosed on their website that the Analogue 3D is now expected to be shipped in the last quarter of 2025, which spans from October 1st to December 31st. The developers shared that the console’s primary hardware and packaging are nearly complete at 99%. However, Analogue emphasized that they are concentrating on the remaining 1%, causing the shipping date to be moved to Q4. They assured that they are pushing forward vigorously and expressed gratitude for everyone’s patience and trust.

In contrast to escalating prices of video game consoles worldwide, the Analogue 3D console still retails at $249 as reported now. The initial batch of pre-orders for the Analogue 3D has been exhausted, but additional batches will be launched post-release. On the other hand, the main controller for the Analogue 3D, the 8BitDo 64 Bluetooth Controller, can currently be purchased via Amazon and 8BitDo at $39.99, offering choices between black and white color options. It’s worth mentioning that this same controller is compatible with both the Nintendo Switch and an upcoming Switch 2 console, though compatibility requires an update to the controller firmware.

For now, fans of the N64 who have NSO + Expansion Pack can savor games such as “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time” through the Nintendo Classics app. It remains to be seen if this is the final postponement for the Analogue 3D system.
