It’s soon expected that the Nintendo Switch 2 will hit the market, with many Japanese analysts predicting its cost to be approximately $400 or higher upon release.
According to a recent report by Bloomberg, there’s widespread expectation that the upcoming system will be the priciest in Nintendo’s history, with its initial release price being higher than the original Switch at $299. Yet, despite this anticipated high cost, it is believed that the units will sell swiftly once they hit the market.
In the initial months, it’s predicted that Nintendo Switch 2 will see an enormous number of sales, even with a potentially high price tag, according to Serkan Toto, a Tokyo-based analyst speaking to Bloomberg. This is due to a strong software lineup in the first year, which includes new versions of popular games like Mario Kart and 3D Mario after an eight-year gap, as well as Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4. Additionally, there will likely be support from third-party developers from day one, with big titles such as Call of Duty expected to be among them.
Regarding its release date, several experts predict that the console will debut in June. Among them, Robin Zhu from Sanford C. Bernstein is confident, stating that around 6 to 8 million units of the console will be ready for sale on the first day.
According to Bloomberg, it implies that if initial sales meet expectations, the upcoming console will set a record for the largest console launch yet.
