Andor Season 2’s Biggest Unanswered Mysteries That Still Have Us Guessing

Summary

  • Time gaps between Andor season 1 & 2 raise questions for characters’ development.
  • Characters like Mon Mothma’s family and Kleya & Vel aren’t given proper closure.
  • Unresolved mysteries like Bix’s whereabouts and the Maya Pei rebels add to potential future plots.

I must say, it’s a delight to witness Disney continually pushing the boundaries when it comes to show delivery. The unique approach of releasing Andor in four distinct chapters almost feels like receiving a movie each week. Each set of episodes seemed to revolve around a central theme that was well-developed and concluded satisfactorily. Was this consistency maintained in the season finale, as well as the final batch of three episodes?

Viewers familiar with the series understand that Cassian Andor’s story didn’t conclude here, as he hails from “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.” Despite being released before “Andor,” it is essentially a prequel in terms of the timeline. This is the final note of “Andor,” and while it does provide some answers to the show’s lingering queries, it doesn’t resolve them all. As such, there are several unanswered questions that season 2 of “Andor” left for its audience to ponder over.

Spoilers Ahead for Andor Season 2 and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

6. The Time Gaps Are Troubling

What Happened To Kill Me?

In 2022, the debut season of Andor was released, giving some time for events to fade from memory for many viewers. The final episode, number twelve, served as a poignant tribute to Cassian’s adoptive mother, Maarva, and his allies, including Bix, as they went into hiding at the end of the season. As they part ways, Cassian instructs Luthen to take his life, bringing the first season to a close.

In the second season, events fast-forward by a year and commence with Cassian pilfering an imperial prototype spaceship. However, it’s not clear what transpired during that year to help Cassian deal with his troubled mind. Similarly, there are significant time jumps between episode nine and ten that could be expanded upon. Disney has the opportunity to delve into these gaps if they choose to do so.

5. What Happened To Mon Mothma’s Contacts And Family?

Is It So Easy To Give Up Family?

In the original Star Wars trilogy, Mon Mothma served as an exceptional leader with her past largely unexplored. The series Andor, however, brilliantly delved into her history, revealing that she had a life prior to the Rebellion which was cruelly taken away. Her most significant scene occurred in episode nine where she denounced Emperor Palpatine before the Senate and narrowly escaped due to Cassian’s intervention.

She didn’t manage to bid farewell to her husband, Perrin Fertha, or her daughter, Leida, before she left. It seems they may not have spoken again afterwards, but that might not be the case. Regardless, it’s peculiar that her family didn’t receive a formal goodbye or closure beyond Perrin driving off in a vehicle possibly with another person.

4. What Happened To Kleya And Vel

Did Their Adventures Continue?

In the second season of Andor, or in the movie sequel Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, most main characters either meet their demise or continue their stories within the Star Wars universe. However, two characters – Vel Sartha and Kleya Marki – were not shown to perish and seem to have had happy endings since they found a home on Yavin 4.

Things aren’t always smooth sailing for them; they each experienced setbacks. Vel had to endure the loss of her beloved partner, Cinta, during season two, while Kleya mourned Luthen. However, there is optimism that these characters may reappear and their narratives might continue in a potential movie or Disney+ series.

3. Did Cassian Ever Try Looking For Bix?

There Is Another Andor

Slowing down the pace a bit, the ninth installment ended with quite a suspenseful moment as Bix wrote a note indicating she had departed, leading viewers to anticipate her return in the following episode or perhaps Cassian’s search for her. However, this wasn’t the case; instead, there was another leap forward by a year in the narrative.

In the final scene of episode twelve, Bix was seen on Mina-Rau cradling a child. It’s possible that Cassian inquired about her whereabouts during this period, and since he held the baby at some point, it raises questions as to whether the child could be his. So, did Cassian indeed search for Bix and is the child potentially his offspring? This ambiguity has left fans intrigued, suggesting that there may be more to explore in the world of Andor beyond this current storyline.

2. What Happened To The Maya Pei Rebels?

Did They Find The Actual Base?

In the original tale, this situation presents a small enigma that’s intended for a grand unveiling later on. Earlier, we learned that Cassian was tasked with stealing a new spaceship and transporting it to Yavin 4 in episode one. However, upon his arrival, he fails to locate his contact, and instead encounters a secretive Rebel faction called the Maya Pei who ambush him unexpectedly.

I was held captive until I managed to break free, which left them stuck once more on Yavin 4. Given that this Rebel group resides in what will become the Rebellion’s main base in the future, is there a chance they might eventually unite with the others? It’s possible that the Maya Pei faction fought each other instead, but whatever happened, it remains a puzzle unsolved.

1. Was Luthen A Jedi?

The Force Evaded This One

In the first person: As a devoted fan, I couldn’t help but wonder about Luthen in season two. During the early episodes of season one, he lent Cassian his Kyber Crystal-infused necklace, which is known to be the energy source for Lightsabers. This left me curious and eager to learn more about this intriguing character.

From my perspective, Luthen regains something, yet it vanishes without a trace, leaving me wondering why he’d possess it if he wasn’t a Jedi. In episode ten, we flashback to the moment Luthen encounters Kleya during an incursion. It’s plausible that Luthen could have been a soldier instead, stumbling upon the Kyber Crystal, or maybe he was married to a Jedi. With Luthen now deceased, these details might rest alongside him, but there’s a chance for Disney to delve deeper into this character if they choose to.
