WARNING: This post contains SPOILERS for Daredevil: Born Again Episode 4 and Marvel Comics.
Angela Del Toro Could Very Well Be The Next White Tiger
She Appeared In Episode 4 of Daredevil: Born Again

Prior to his demise, Hector Ayala resided with his sister Ava Ayala and niece Angela Del Toro. In his role as a vigilante, Hector was diligently saving funds to purchase a home, aiming to restore a broken household and share it with his wife. Regrettably, before Hector could bestow upon his wife a new residence, he found himself ensnared in questionable dealings involving unscrupulous police officers. Matt successfully defended Hector in court and secured his release, but the malevolent law enforcement force harbored ill will towards him and ultimately took Hector’s life.
It’s tough to predict how Hector’s death will impact his wife, but it’s evident that Angela Del Toro, his niece, was deeply affected. After hearing about her uncle’s demise, she appeared devastated. She struggled to comprehend why a supposedly fair trial didn’t help Hector and felt enraged at the individuals within the system who ended up taking an innocent man’s life. Angela Del Toro seems intelligent enough to grasp that the system itself is corrupt and no one appears willing to make necessary changes. She was aware of Hector’s innocence, and even though he was proven innocent, he was still killed by a crooked police force.
Angela Del Toro expressed her discontent towards the city, stating that she feels nothing is being done to improve its state, and she doubts if anyone will take action in the future.
Angela engages in a short conversation with Matt about her uncle’s murder, which shows us that she has a powerful sense of justice. Similar to Hector, she questions the legitimacy of the system, and it’s clear why her uncle transformed into the White Tiger. Despite being young, she carries enough rage within her to potentially follow in the footsteps of the White Tiger.
Angela held deep affection and admiration for her uncle, inspiring her to carry on his work by becoming the new White Tiger. This could be done either to avenge past wrongs or preserve her uncle’s legacy. Additionally, there seems to be a budding relationship between Angela and Matt, suggesting that he may guide her as a mentor once she assumes the mantle of the White Tiger. In this scenario, Matt (Daredevil) would be by her side.
To wield the title of the next White Tiger, Angela needs to have the Amulet. This artifact bestowed Hector with the powers of the “Tiger God,” making him incredibly strong and swift. Regardless of any resentment Angela may harbor, she won’t be able to fight effectively without these powers. Fortunately, Hector’s possessions, including the White Tiger costume and the Amulet, were not seized by the police because Matt had them during his conversation with Angela. It’s typical of Matt to give the White Tiger costume and the Amulet to someone close to Hector, and at this moment, it appears that person is Angela. However, due to her young age, Angela isn’t ready yet to take up the role of a vigilante, so we might not see the White Tiger in action for some time with Angela at its helm.
Angela Del Toro Becomes The White Tiger In Marvel Comics
She Wears The Mask After Hector’s Death

Angela Del Toro is a pivotal figure within the Marvel comic books, assuming the role of the White Tiger following Hector Ayala’s untimely demise. Similar to what transpired in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’, Hector was unjustly accused and eventually killed by a guard in the comics. Strangely enough, Hector’s possessions, including the Amulet, were passed on to Angela Del Toro after his death. Unlike the TV series portrayal, Angela was an adult working for the FBI when her uncle died. This allowed her to quickly transition into the White Tiger under Daredevil’s tutelage.
Beyond Matt, it is also known that Angela receives mentorship from Black Widow and Danny Rand (Iron Fist). She plays a crucial role in Matt’s adventure and gains recognition in the world. The Amulet grants her extraordinary power, enabling her to vanquish numerous formidable foes, such as Sano Orii of the Yakuza. Regrettably, Angela falls into the clutches of The Hand and is slain by one of their agents, Lady Bullseye. However, this was not the final chapter in her tale, as Lady Bullseye revives Angela through the Pit, making her a tool for The Hand.
Matt sees no trace of wrongdoing in Angela Del Toro, she’s as innocent as freshly fallen snow.
After Angela was revived, she transformed into an adversarial character, much like Elektra before her. Her actions turned sinister under the influence of the Hand, culminating in her issuing a hit on Foggy Nelson. However, Ava Ayala (Angela’s mother and Hector’s sister) stepped up to become the White Tiger, seeking to rescue her daughter from a grim destiny.
Angela’s White Tiger certainly had a captivating tale unfold in Marvel Comics, yet it remains uncertain if the MCU will mirror this story or carve out a unique path for the character. It could very well be that we witness some character growth for Angela within the Daredevil: Born Again series before she embarks on her standalone project.
