The new Animal Crossing: New Horizons update, version 3.0, is now available for players in select regions on both the Nintendo Switch and the newer Switch 2 console.
Animal Crossing is getting a big update today! Nintendo is releasing Update 3.0 with lots of new, free content for all players. Plus, the update will also improve the game on the Switch 2, offering better graphics and a sharper picture.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons Update 3.0 Switch 2 Edition Release Times
The latest free update for the game is out now, but the upgraded version for Switch 2 will take a little longer. Eurogamer has published a report with estimated release times for Animal Crossing: New Horizons Update 3.0 on Switch 2, broken down by region. You can find the list of times below.
- UK – Thursday 15th January at 1 am (GMT)
- Europe – Thursday 15th January at 2 am (CET)
- US West Coast – Wednesday 14th January at 5 pm (PT)
- US Central – Wednesday 14th January at 7 pm (CT)
- US East Coast – Wednesday 14th January at 8 pm (ET)
- Japan – Thursday 15th January at 10 am (JST)
- Australia – Thursday 15th January at Noon (AEDT)
The latest update (version 3.0) for Animal Crossing: New Horizons is designed to take advantage of the new Nintendo console. Players will notice better graphics and sharper resolution. The update introduces support for the Joy-Con 2 mouse controls, making it easier to decorate, create custom designs, and leave messages. A new Megaphone item lets you call your island residents using your voice through the console’s microphone. Finally, the online experience is improved with expanded GameChat, allowing up to 12 players to chat and even see each other’s faces while playing.
The new 3.0 update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons on Switch and Switch 2 includes a lot of free additions! Four new villagers are available, but you’ll need Amiibo cards to invite them to your island. The biggest change is the addition of a resort where you can design rooms for visitors. You can also use a new Reset Service to tidy up parts of your island. Plus, there’s a new dream world called Slumber Islands and more collaborations are coming soon.
