Anime Los Angeles 2025: A Standout Cosplay Showcase with Unique Twists and Classics

Summary

  • Umineko and Gundam cosplayers impressed with accuracy and detail in their outfits.
  • Legend of Zelda cosplayers blended elements from different games for a unique look.
  • Creative cosplays from original games like Hoyoverse’s Zenless Zone Zero stood out at Anime Los Angeles.

During the second week of the current year, Anime Los Angeles captivated many yet again in Long Beach, California. Boasting more than 17,000 participants so far, it offers an abundance of awe-inspiring cosplay costumes.

At various locations such as the convention center’s lobby, neighboring hotels, the expo area, or artist corners, we stumbled upon some of the most gifted and imaginative cosplayers that the convention boasted. Since its debut in January 2005 in Van Nuys, California with a mere 616 attendees, Anime LA has consistently been a magnet for cosplayers and artists from all over the United States.

The Classics

This cosplayer skillfully portrayed the character of Beatrice from Umineko, with her wig and costume both impressively authentic to the source material. It was almost like she had walked straight out of the visual novel!

During that time, the story unfolds about a man named Battler who experiences a series of mysterious deaths when he reunites with his family on his grandfather’s estate. A legendary witch named Beatrice becomes the focus, engaging Battler in an intellectual game with no end in sight. Concurrently, he uncovers the secret behind Rokkenjima island.

These two individuals expertly portrayed their love for Gundam with impeccable costumes modeled after the Zaku II and Wing Gundam! They meticulously crafted these cosplay outfits themselves, delivering an authentic and detailed performance.

In a distant tomorrow, I bear witness to a world where mankind employs young warriors to engage in conflicts through mechanical exosuits, thereby reducing human losses and waging interstellar wars. Across various narratives and timelines, the Gundam saga persists, having been born back in 1979 and enduring till today.

Originality and the Modern Hype

In The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, although it maintains its unique storyline, the appearance of Wolf Link and Link’s Twilight Princess outfit makes it understandable why these three cosplayers managed to resemble their characters so closely. Here, Link courageously confronts two Yiga clan members, possibly due to a banana-related theft on his part.

The Legend of Zelda collection narrates the tale of a youth selected by the deities to safeguard Hyrule against wickedness. Fascinating personalities and a possible romantic subplot with Princess Zelda grace each installment, with every game featuring its unique narrative thread.

Lo and behold! This dedicated cosplayer thought outside the box and conceived an original design inspired by the cherished koroks from the iconic Zelda series, specifically from Breath of the Wild. Not only did she embody these characters flawlessly, but she also carried miniature korok seeds to share with fellow attendees.

In the woodlands of Hyrule dwell adorable yet playful creatures called Koroks. These elusive beings prefer to stay hidden from view, but they’re always eager for a friendly challenge – though their protector, the Great Deku Tree, may argue otherwise.

This Anby Demara cosplayer, hailing from the universe of Hoyoverse’s Zenless Zone Zero (commonly referred to as ZZZ), commands the limelight. Her impeccable makeup and 3D-printed props give an authentic in-game feel, suggesting she’s just emerged from the digital realm!

In simpler terms, “Zenless Zone Zero” is a free video game set in a post-apocalyptic landscape. Here, human survivors engage in combat with strange invaders from alternate realities known as “Hollows”.

It’s clear that cosplay isn’t going out of fashion anytime quickly; it remains a cherished pastime. A glimpse at the gifted individuals at Anime Los Angeles is just a small sample – if we featured everyone, this list would be endless.
