Anna Camp’s Evil Twin in You: Could She Be the Next Ghostface in Scream 7?

Spoiler Alert: This article contains spoilers for You season 5.

Summary

  • Anna Camp‘s performance in You season 5 as Maddie and Raegan Lockwood captivates, foreshadowing a compelling presence in Scream 7.
  • Camp’s diverse acting background positions her to potentially portray Ghostface in Scream 7 with riveting darkness.
  • Camp expressed excitement for Scream 7, hinting at a chilling and exciting cinematic experience that fans will relish.

In December 2024, it was revealed that Anna Camp had been cast in the seventh installment of Scream, leaving fans wondering if she would play a villain or one of Ghostface’s victims. Previously, I found myself captivated by her performances as twins Maddie and Raegan Lockwood on Netflix’s You. Her ability to convincingly portray characters with contrasting personalities was a significant factor in making Joe Goldberg’s (Penn Badgley) final chapter so engaging.

Throughout her career, Camp has taken on a diverse range of roles, such as the cunning Sarah Newlin in “True Blood” and the determined Aubrey Posen in the “Pitch Perfect” series. She is now part of an exciting new cast for the seventh “Scream” film alongside Asa Germann, Celeste O’Connor, Mckenna Grace, Isabel May, Jimmy Tatro, and Michelle Randolph. After witnessing her skills in “You” season 5, I can’t wait to see what role she takes on in “Scream 7,” as I believe it will be captivating!

Anna Camp’s You Season 5 Role Makes Me Excited About Her Scream 7 Casting

In the fifth season of “You”, it’s undeniably Joe Goldberg who takes center stage, but Anna Camp’s dual portrayal of Maddie and Ragean Lockwood truly outshines. I found the turn of events at the end of season 5, episode 3 intriguing: Joe inadvertently trapped kind and virtuous Maddie instead of the malicious Raegan, leaving him to untangle this predicament. Given Camp’s convincing portrayal of ruthless Raegan, I can only hope she will don the Ghostface mask for Scream 7.

Given Camp’s past roles in light-hearted comedies like “Pitch Perfect”, it might be unexpected to see her take on the role of Ghostface in the upcoming slasher sequel. The movie could either introduce a solitary, startling Ghostface or unveil a large ensemble of sinister characters. While Camp possesses the acting chops to convincingly play a singular Ghostface, adding her to a malevolent and ruthless team could also make for an exciting twist. It’s clear that every moment Camp appears on “You” showcases her talent, as Raegen’s anger, fear, and determination are palpable in each scene.

Although it’s a delightful thought to imagine Camp reprising her twin role in “Scream 7,” it appears rather improbable. Yet, I firmly believe that Camp’s Scream character could leave an indelible mark and be among the finest in the film. A fan suggested that Camp could play Sidney Prescott’s (Neve Campbell) loyal friend. It would be intriguing to see them together, with Camp becoming Sidney’s confidante. Perhaps this friendship develops because Camp has been planning a massacre and wants to keep an eye on Sidney. After witnessing her chilling portrayal of Raegan in “You” season 5, especially during the initial episodes where Raegan is plotting, I yearn to see more complex, eerie, and spine-tingling characters from Camp.

As much as I’d love to see her step into the role of Ghostface, it would equally intrigue me if her character had a connection with Ghostface. Perhaps she isn’t the one doing the killing, but rather, she could be an insider, manipulating events from behind the curtain.

What Did Anna Camp Say About Joining Scream 7?

In an interview with TODAY, Anna Camp expressed her excitement about joining the cast for Scream 7, mentioning her long-standing admiration for the horror film series. Reflecting on her experience, she recalled watching Scream in a movie theater and elaborated on it.

“It definitely was a full circle moment.”

Camp continued:

To have the privilege of performing alongside stars like Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and the legendary Kevin Williamson on set was nothing short of a dream realization for me. I can only imagine the excitement, anticipation, and perhaps even a few screams from the audience as they witness our work together.

It’s been delightful listening to the cast of Scream 7 discuss their movie-making process. From Jasmin Savoy Brown’s accolades for director Kevin Williamson to Mason Gooding’s description of it as “gory,” their insights hint at a fantastic experience, and their comments will undoubtedly increase fans’ anticipation for the film. Although Camp wasn’t too forthcoming, her positive sentiments suggest that she had a great time making the movie, and this excitement should further fuel eagerness to watch the completed project.

Fans will need to hold their excitement until February 27th, 2026, when Scream 7 is set for release, to discover the type of character Camp portrays in the movie. In the interim, they can keep themselves entertained by watching all ten episodes of You season 5 and enjoying Camp’s impressive acting skills.
