Another PS Plus Premium Game Now Has Trophy Support

Highlights

  • PS Plus Premium now offers trophy support for Thrillville, a classic theme park sim akin to RollerCoaster Tycoon.
  • PS Plus Premium Classics Catalog includes hundreds of PS, PS2, and PSP games, with many receiving trophy support.

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia and excitement whenever a classic game gets a new lease of life. The recent addition of trophy support for Thrillville on PS Plus Premium is no exception. I remember playing this game back in the day and getting lost in the world of amusement park management. It’s amazing how a simple game like this can transport you to another place and time.

In December 2023, the theme park management simulation game “Thrillville,” which was developed by Frontier Developments and compared to “RollerCoaster Tycoon,” became available on PS Plus Premium. This means collectors can now earn trophies while playing. Originally launched for the PS2 and PlayStation Portable in 2006 and 2007, respectively, Thrillville received mainly favorable reviews.

Launched in June 2022, PlayStation Plus Premium offers a collection of classic games from PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, and even PS3 (through cloud streaming) via its Classics Catalog. In October, it was disclosed that a significant number of these classics would now have trophy support. However, not all titles will receive trophies right away.

When Thrillville for PSP was added to the PS Plus Premium library, it initially didn’t have trophy support; however, this has since been rectified. Thanks to PSNProfiles, which gets its data directly from the PlayStation Network, a complete list of all 38 Thrillville trophies and their conditions is now available. This includes a Platinum trophy, along with tasks ranging from easy to difficult like getting 5 stars on 10 missions, maxing out the friendship meter of at least two park guests, and building a race or coaster track with a nausea score of 70 or more.)

PlayStation and numerous developers are actively working on adding trophy features to classic games that currently lack them. In June, four additional PS Plus Premium titles received this update: “Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare,” “Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus,” “Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue,” and “Toy Story 3.” This means that players can now earn trophies while playing these games.

while some games provide trophy features, others may encounter problems. For instance, in June, it was discovered that “Crime Boss: Rockay City,” which is part of PS Plus Extra, had an unachievable Platinum trophy due to a patch problem. The game’s progress tracking was disrupted, preventing two necessary trophies from being earned, leaving the Platinum trophy untouched. Fortunately, developer Ingame Studios resolved the issue promptly, but the challenging nature of the game may continue to keep the trophies elusive for many players.
