Thunderful Group has announced that Planet of Lana 2: Children of the Leaf will be available on Xbox Game Pass starting March 5, 2026. Players will also be able to try out a demo before the full game releases on the service.

Planet of Lana 2, the second game from Swedish studio Wishfully, is a beautiful side-scrolling puzzle adventure. Players will guide Lana and her companion, Mui, through a unique world that combines nature and futuristic technology. Announced in June 2025, the game will be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one, just like Wishfully’s first game. Currently, the developers are aiming for a 2026 release.

Planet of Lana 2 Release Date Announced with New Trailer

After being announced eight months ago, Planet of Lana 2 will officially launch on March 5th. A new gameplay trailer revealed the release date and gave fans a longer look at the puzzle platformer. The trailer details the story—Lana’s quest to reunite her fractured planet—and showcases diverse environments, including forests, snowy landscapes, swamps, a level set on a moving train, and a bustling shanty town.

Released in 2023, Planet of Lana received mostly positive feedback, earning scores of 81% and an 80% recommendation rate on OpenCritic. Reviewers praised its beautiful visuals, immersive atmosphere, and music, though opinions differed on the platforming, with some finding it too basic. Planet of Lana 2 is designed to address this, focusing on more dynamic movement and diverse gameplay. The developers at Wishfully say the sequel stars a more athletic Lana, with improved movement and new abilities like wall jumping. The latest trailer also shows that her regular jump has been enhanced, now covering a greater distance.

Similar to the original Planet of Lana, the sequel, Planet of Lana 2: Children of the Leaf, tells its story without any spoken words. Characters communicate using made-up sounds, like the language in the Sims games, rather than actual language. This technique helps make stories accessible to everyone, as it eliminates the need for translations or subtitles. When done well, a story without dialogue is easy to follow, allowing the visuals and music to take center stage. The first Planet of Lana game was highly acclaimed for its successful use of this approach.

I’m so excited for the games coming to Xbox Game Pass! We now know three titles are planned for March 2026: Planet of Lana 2, Replaced (which is hitting the service on March 12th), and Nova Roma on March 26th. The best part? All three will be available to play on day one! Nova Roma was originally supposed to come out in January, but the developers, Lion Shield, decided to take a little extra time to make sure it was really polished before release – and I totally respect that!
