Apex Legends Review Bombed Over New Battle Pass Move

As a dedicated gamer with over a thousand hours spent on Apex Legends, I’ve seen it all – from the game’s rough beginnings to its meteoric rise as one of the most popular Battle Royale games out there. The community, including myself, has put in countless hours, sweat, and passion into this game.

Recently, Respawn announced a new monetization plan for Apex Legends in which the Battle Pass is divided into two distinct passes and eliminates the requirement of AC or Apex Coins at the start of Season 22. This decision has met with disapproval from the fan base, leading them to flood Steam with negative reviews. Find more information below.

According to Kotaku’s discovery, the player feedback on Steam for Apex Legends has shifted to “extremely unfavorable,” indicating discontent towards a recent game update, particularly the new battle pass system. Over 10,000 negative reviews have been recorded since the announcement of this new feature, with many expressing their frustration.

As a devoted fan with over a thousand hours under my belt, I’ve heard from many others in the community express their disappointment with the latest changes to the game, particularly the new Battle Pass system. Previously, we’ve learned to tolerate the cheaters and audio issues, but for us dedicated players, this is the last straw. It seems that this update has pushed us to our limits, and unfortunately, it’s time for some of us to move on from the game.

In the previous setup, I used to buy Battle Passes with my earned AC coins, which I could eventually get back by advancing through the battle pass levels during the season. I could then utilize those coins once more to purchase the next season’s battle pass, making it a one-time investment. However, with the new real-life currency approach, I will need to pay approximately $20 each season if I wish to obtain all content from both battle passes. While it’s not my preferred way of doing things.

In contemporary gaming landscape, the impact of the gaming community on games has been truly noteworthy. An illustrative case in point is the Helldivers 2 controversy. Gamers were displeased with the requirement of a PSN login to play the game, even on Steam. Their united front forced Sony Interactive Entertainment to reconsider, ultimately leading to the removal of this prerequisite on Steam – a victory for the gaming community. This episode underscores the significant clout that the community wields in shaping developments. Here’s hoping that the Apex Legends community can accomplish something similar.
