The last two months have been fairly busy for video game releases. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Civilization 7, Monster Hunter Wilds, and Split Fiction all released within just a few weeks of one another. 2025 shows no signs of stopping either, with Assassin’s Creed Shadows just days away from release, South of Midnight coming at the start of April, and even Fatal Fury‘s long-awaited return being right around the corner. And amid it all is The Last of Us.
In a recent interview with Variety, Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann said that fans “shouldn’t bet on” there being a Last of Us Part 3. Whether or not that’s true, The Last of Us isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, with the franchise set to release two projects in April 2025.

The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered Is Coming to PC in April
Released back in January 2024, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered gives the award-winning 2020 action-adventure game a slight graphical makeover, and implements a range of other technical and gameplay improvements and additions. The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is set to hit Steam and the Epic Games Store on April 3, 2025, where it’ll retail for $49.99.
Apart from enhancing its graphics, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered includes several new game modes and functions. One of the notable additions is the roguelike ‘No Return’ mode, where players engage in intense battles against waves of enemies using various characters from The Last of Us series, each with distinct weapon sets and abilities.
One notable improvement in the remastered version of The Last of Us Part 2 is the complete integration with the DualSense controller, maximizing its haptic feedback and adaptive triggers capabilities. Players who own a DualSense on PC can benefit from this integration, but they should keep their controller connected to their PC via a wired link to access all of the game’s in-built features.
The Last of Us Part 1‘s PC release in March 2023 was an infamous disaster, with the game suffering severe technical issues for weeks after launch. Hopefully The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered can avoid those issues off the bat.
The Last of Us Part 1 is currently available in Steam’s Spring sale for $29.99, for those eager to play the first game before Part 2‘s release on PC next month.
The Last of Us Season 2 Begins in April
Premiering in January 2023, HBO’s live-action The Last of Us adaptation is widely regarded to be one of the best video game adaptations of all time, featuring stellar performances, great visual effects, and thrilling action. One of The Last of Us‘ greatest strengths was its ability to add to the series’ lore while remaining faithful to the source material. It looks like The Last of Us Season 2 will be following suit.
Set to premiere on April 13, 2025, The Last of Us Season 2 will have a total of seven episodes, with the final one set to air on May 25, 2025. Unlike the first season, The Last of Us Season 2 will only cover a portion of The Last of Us Part 2, with the material reportedly being stretched over the course of several seasons. It seems plenty of new story content will be added as well, with a handful of original characters already confirmed to appear in season 2, such as Joel’s therapist, who’s being played by Catherine O’Hara.
