ARC Raiders’ Best Skill Hit with a Heavy Nerf in Latest Update

With the latest ARC Raiders update introducing the Cold Snap condition, Embark Studios also released a significant patch. This patch refined the game’s core mechanics, addressed various bugs, and adjusted a frequently used skill. Since launching on October 30th, ARC Raiders has quickly become popular, attracting a large player base and proving successful for Embark Studios. To maintain this momentum and keep the game engaging, Embark has been consistently adding new content each month.

Since the November update that introduced the Stella Montis map and a community event, the December update for ARC Raiders has added snow and the danger of frostbite. Staying in the cold too long will slowly damage your character, but completing Cold Snap missions offers the chance to earn better rewards. Players can also participate in the Flickering Flames event, which features a new reward system based on performance, and a new Raider Deck launching on December 26th. However, the latest update seems to have weakened a previously popular skill.

ARC Raiders Unintentionally Nerfed Security Breach

The recent ‘Cold Snap’ update for ARC Raiders improved the game with bug fixes, map tweaks, and overall enhancements. A less noticeable change affected Security Lockers: they no longer appear in the same places each time you play. Instead, their locations are now randomized. Players need the ‘Security Breach’ skill—a powerful ability unlocked through the red skill tree—to open these lockers, which usually contain valuable items. Before the update, players often planned their gameplay around reaching these lockers to grab good loot before finishing a run.

The recent update to security lockers in ARC Raiders has reduced the benefit of fully investing in the red Survival skill tree, considering how many resources it takes to unlock. While dynamically spawning lockers adds welcome unpredictability to the game – which is important for extraction shooters – players might now find very few, or even none, during a run. Other skills might not be as flashy, but they’re more reliable choices than spending points on a skill that isn’t consistently useful anymore.

I’m really happy about this new update for ARC Raiders! They’ve finally let us respec our skill trees, which is awesome. I was wanting to move away from the final skill in the Survival tree, and now I can. It costs 2,000 coins to respec each skill, but you have to reset everything at once, so the total price depends on how many skill points you’ve already put in. If you’re at the max level of 75, a full reset will set you back 152,000 coins, which is a bit pricey, but nice to have the option!

Okay, so I was a little bummed to hear about the lockers potentially losing their good loot, but honestly, now is the time to get into ARC Raiders! After the update, blueprints are dropping like crazy – way more than they used to! The patch notes said Stella Montis would have better spawns, but it seems like the whole game got a boost. We’re all loving it, but I wonder if Embark will do anything about it. Blueprints are supposed to be rare, and right now they’re pretty easy to find, so the developers might want to tweak things to keep the challenge up. Still, it’s a great time to play and stock up!

With recent surges in ARC Raiders blueprint sales on eBay, it might be smart to keep the increased blueprint drop rate active for a while. Embark can’t control external trading or protect players from scams, but making blueprints easier to find within the game reduces the incentive for players to buy them from resellers. This gives players a better chance to earn powerful items through gameplay instead of spending money.
