ARC Raiders Cheaters Are Being Banned, but Not Forever

Following repeated hacking issues, the developers of ARC Raiders, Embark Studios, have begun banning cheaters. However, players are still upset because many bans are only temporary. The studio says they’re improving their anti-cheat system in the coming weeks, but the community wants Embark to issue permanent bans right away to deal with the problem more effectively.

Though many gamers were skeptical at first, ARC Raiders has become very popular in its first few months. The game has kept around 90% of its original players on Steam, making it consistently one of the platform’s top games – and unfortunately, that’s drawn in cheaters. This is a common problem for online games, even big titles like Call of Duty and Battlefield, which frequently need to update their anti-cheat measures to stay ahead of new hacks. ARC Raiders is facing the same issue, with cheaters finding ways to gain unfair advantages, such as widening their view or rejoining past games.

ARC Raiders Is Handing Out Temporary Bans To Cheaters

So, things were getting really frustrating in ARC Raiders with all the cheaters running around. The developers, Embark Studios, said they knew about it and were planning a big fix. Well, it looks like those fixes are starting to happen! I saw a post on Reddit from a user named Subsplot showing a message cheaters are getting – a temporary ban for breaking the rules. It’s not a permanent solution yet, but it’s awesome to see they’re actually taking action and starting to kick out the players who were ruining the game for everyone else.

Fans were quick to criticize the short suspensions given to cheaters, wondering why the bans weren’t permanent. One commenter wrote, “Just one month? I hope punishments are longer depending on how serious the cheating is.” Another user responded sarcastically, “A suspension will really teach them a lesson.” One player proposed a different solution: putting all cheaters in separate game lobbies so they can “play with each other forever.” They believe this would stop cheaters from making new accounts, as no one would know they were playing with them.

Players recently found a way to cheat in ARC Raiders by using leftover developer tools within the game. These tools let them change settings, like increasing the field of view and removing darkness, giving them an unfair advantage. Fortunately, the developers at Embark quickly fixed the issue with a new update, removing the access to these tools. They explained that these features were only intended for internal use during development.

The next update for ARC Raiders, coming out on Tuesday, January 13th, will include improvements to fairness, gameplay balance, and bug fixes. Players have been eagerly awaiting this update, the first of 2026, as the developers plan to reduce the power of currently overused items like Trigger Nades and the Stitcher. They also intend to limit how quickly the Kettle weapon can fire, addressing an issue where players were using external programs to bypass the intended rate. Detailed information about all the changes will be released tomorrow in the patch notes.
