Embark Studios recently released the ‘Abyss’ skin bundle for ARC Raiders, giving players a highly requested outfit. This armored skin was previously featured in the game’s promotional materials, and fans had been eagerly awaiting its arrival since the game launched.
While many players liked the upper part of the skin, the lower half received criticism. Some described the leg coverings as overly restrictive, and humorous reactions and fan-made edits quickly spread online after the skin was shown. Interestingly, the overall design of the Abyss outfit turned out to be quite faithful to the original concept.
Abyss Skin is an Old-Fashioned Anti-G Suit
A new, high-priced bundle called ‘The Abyss’ recently became available in the ARC Raiders store. It’s a special outfit for players who’ve been waiting to get it, and features a strange, alien-looking helmet, lots of tubes, pouches, small gadgets, and, notably, leg corsets.
Each leg features a snugly wrapped covering that’s open at the knees for flexibility, and honestly, the overall look is quite silly.
But a little internet sleuthing by eagle-eyed fans has uncovered a fact about the Abyss outfit.
This design is surprisingly effective, inspired by the compression suits pilots used to wear. These suits helped maintain blood flow during long flights by applying pressure to the legs, preventing blood from pooling and ensuring the brain received enough oxygen.

Currently, the most accepted idea is that the suit is designed for the raiders who are quickly leaving Speranza in their capsules, traveling at incredibly high speeds on rails. However, this doesn’t quite fit with what the ‘anti-gravity’ suit is actually meant to do.
Okay, we’ve cleared that up. The Abyss skin for ARC Raiders might seem strange, but it’s definitely not a revealing outfit. It’s actually a design inspired by real, retro-futuristic technology – something that existed in the past and has echoes even now.
Case closed.
