ARC Raiders Considering Major Feature That Fans Have Been Asking For

The developers of ARC Raiders, Embark Studios, are starting to address player requests for more content in the game, specifically regarding the central hub area called Speranza. In a recent interview with PCGamesN, design director Virgil Watkins confirmed that the team is actively considering a popular feature that players have been asking for.

Embark is planning what content to add to ARC Raiders in 2026, with a focus on improvements to the player experience and significant new features. Although studio head Watkins didn’t give a specific date or guarantee anything, he indicated they’re seriously considering a highly requested feature, which is a positive sign for the game and its community.

ARC Raiders May Eventually Make Speranza a Walkable Social Hub

As a huge fan of ARC Raiders, one of the things I love most is how immersive it is. The game just pulls you in with its amazing visuals, sound design, and the overall world they’ve built. Because of that, a lot of us are really hoping to see more of the world, and especially to be able to freely explore Speranza, the game’s main hub. Many of us would love it to be like the Tower in Destiny 2 – a place where you can hang out and socialize. I know some people worry about how that might change the game, and aren’t so keen on the idea, but honestly, being able to walk around Speranza and meet other players would be incredible!

In an interview with PCGamesN, the design director for ARC Raiders addressed the possibility of adding a social hub. He confirmed they had definitely considered it, saying it was one of the first things the team discussed when starting development. Ultimately, they decided against it due to time and resource constraints. While they could have created a functional menu system, the extra effort needed for a more elaborate hub wasn’t worth sacrificing other features.

I’ve seen so many requests for Speranza to become a proper social space, like the Tower in Destiny 2. It’d be awesome to hang out there with other players! But honestly, I get why some people are hesitant. Adding something like that could be risky and might not be what everyone wants, so I see both sides.

Right now, Speranza in ARC Raiders feels like a simple menu, even though it shows glimpses of life with traders and citizens going about their day. As it stands, players can quickly buy, sell, and craft items. Turning Speranza into a fully explorable social area would make the game feel more immersive, similar to the experience on the surface, but it would make things less convenient. Instead of easily accessing options through menus, players would probably have to physically travel around to find the traders or crafting stations they need.

I was really excited to hear Watkins talk about potentially making the hub more of a walkable area! He said he personally loves the idea and the way it would look, but he’s also thinking about how it would affect gameplay. He wants to make sure we can still quickly access everything we need – like getting items from Celeste and back to our room – without a lot of running around and forgetting things. He acknowledged that the current system does add to the immersion, though. Basically, the team is definitely interested in it, but they’re carefully considering when the time is right to implement it. It sounds like they want to get it just right!

Many players agree that Speranza should be a lively place to explore and socialize, not just a list of options. A Reddit post asking Embark Studios to focus on making Speranza a walkable hub received a lot of negative feedback, with many commenters expressing their disapproval. However, the post also attracted support from players who like the idea.

Embark is considering letting players choose whether or not to have a walkable Speranza. This would allow those who want a more detailed and immersive experience to turn it on, while players who prefer the quick menu system of ARC Raiders could keep things as they are. While not officially announced, the idea is being discussed, offering hope for players who’ve requested this feature.
