ARC Raiders Devs Already Planning 10 Years Worth Of Content

ARC Raiders is a major focus for Embark Studios, and they’ve already planned a decade of content updates for the game. If you decide to pick it up, you can anticipate a steady stream of new features and additions for years to come.

It’s been a long time since an extraction shooter generated this much excitement. ARC Raiders is quickly becoming the center of attention, surpassing even Escape From Tarkov. The game’s development included a Server Slam Beta, and now it’s heading towards a major launch. The developers have also shared a detailed, long-term plan for the game, which should reassure anyone who was uncertain about its future.

Embark Studios Thinks ARC Raiders Is A 10-Year Game

Virgil Watkins, the design lead at Embark Studios, and his team recently discussed the future of ARC Raiders in an interview. The source of the original interview isn’t clear, but @ARCRaidersNews is currently credited with the video.

Watkins had this to say about post-launch content:

We’ve always envisioned ARC Raiders as a game we’ll be working on for a decade. That long-term goal shapes the amount and kind of content we plan to create.

So, the lead designer isn’t giving us specifics about what’s coming or when. They said that’s because if they start making promises, and things shift during development – which happens a lot! – they don’t want to let us down. It’s a smart move, honestly; better to under-promise and over-deliver, right?

Although ARC Raiders isn’t free, the developers claim the game’s content and value will be well worth the purchase price – potentially offering 3,650 times the value of what you pay.

Promising a game will receive updates and content for ten years is a really ambitious move these days. If player numbers for ARC Raiders fall off quickly, and it becomes unprofitable to create new content for a small audience, those long-term plans could quickly be cancelled.

Do you think the recent comments from Watkins were appropriate? And, after seeing ARC Raiders, do you believe it has the potential to stay popular for a decade or more? Let us know what you think in the comments and on our Discord server!
