ARC Raiders: Enemy Types New Players Keep Underestimating (At Their Own Risk)

ARC Raiders offers a unique take on the extraction shooter genre, focusing heavily on how players interact with and survive in the game’s environment. The robotic enemies found throughout the world are incredibly dangerous – often more so than other players. However, it can be difficult for beginners to understand just how powerful these robots are, leading to many early defeats.

These tough enemies can seem intimidating at first, but they become much easier to handle once you learn how they work. Some have obvious weaknesses you can take advantage of, and others can be defeated with specific tactics. However, even when prepared, it’s important to be cautious – a single mistake can send you all the way back to Speranza with nothing to show for your efforts.

Rocketeers

Raining Down Hell From The Skies

Rocketeers are among the most dangerous enemy bots in the game, and many players don’t realize how quickly they can defeat you. These aggressive bots are especially tough in Server Slam, and can cause serious trouble when you encounter them. They’re incredibly fast, relentlessly attack, and deal enough damage to take players down with just a few rockets, forcing you to find shelter indoors or risk being eliminated.

Many players struggle with Rocketeers because they’re used to easily defeating smaller flying enemies like Wasps and Hornets. They often assume Rocketeers will fall just as quickly with a few shots, but that’s not the case. Rocketeers have strong armor that makes most basic weapons ineffective. New players should avoid fighting them until they have better weapons and more powerful grenades.

Pops

Save Those Bullets

In ARC Raiders, Pops appear to be weak enemies, but they’re actually quite dangerous. These patrolling robots, found in larger structures, hide powerful explosives. They’ll turn red when they spot players and quickly rush to detonate, causing significant damage and setting the surrounding area on fire. While they seem fragile, players need to be cautious of their explosive potential.

These enemies aren’t usually a major threat because they’re lightly armored and easily defeated with just a few shots from most weapons. However, if they manage to get close, their attacks can cause significant damage or even kill you instantly. New players should be especially cautious when entering buildings, as a single explosion can be fatal.

Wasps

Deadly In Numbers

Players exploring Topside will frequently encounter Wasps, but don’t let their numbers fool you – they can be dangerous. These enemies usually fly around looking for isolated players, and often travel in groups or alongside stronger ARC units like Hornets, making fights more challenging. Even alone, Wasps are tricky opponents, able to quickly target and deal significant damage, even when being attacked.

Wasps are particularly dangerous because they’re hard to shoot down. Even when damaged, they relentlessly keep attacking with bullets. New players often try to hide indoors to heal or escape, but Wasps can easily fly through doors and windows. This means Raiders need to stay alert at all times, as a single Wasp can quickly finish off a player who is already low on health.

Leapers

No Distance Is Too Far

Leapers are frightening enemies in ARC Raiders that move like robotic spiders, constantly scanning for targets. New players might be tempted to shoot at them from a distance to test weapons, but that can be a fatal error. Leapers can leap incredible distances – hundreds of meters in any direction – allowing them to rapidly close in on their prey.

Leapers are hindered by their size, making it difficult for them to enter buildings or tight spaces. However, they can detect players from a distance and will aggressively pursue them relentlessly until everything is destroyed. Because they have a lot of health, it’s best to return with stronger weapons and grenades before fighting them. Without adequate firepower and supplies, players can quickly run out of ammo and become vulnerable to the Leaper’s constant attacks.

Sentinels

Heavy Damage From Any Distance

Sentinels are uncommon enemies found in specific, hot locations on the map. They act like sniper turrets, scanning for enemies to attack from long range with powerful shots. However, they’re not very dangerous up close – players can easily hide behind cover to avoid their fire, and they don’t have a lot of health, so they’re quick to defeat.

New players might quickly learn the hard way what the Sentinel’s laser means if they don’t pay attention. The ARC’s attack is powerful, but because Sentinels can’t move, it’s usually easy to find a good spot to hide and defeat them. Still, be careful – even one sniper shot can force you to use a healing item. Getting hurt also attracts attention from other players who will likely try to take advantage of your weakness and steal your loot.
